"Jóga" is dedicated to—and named after—Björk's best friend, Jóhanna "Jóga" Johannsdóttir (the wife of former Mayor of Reykjavík Jón Gnarr), whom Björk would usually thank in her album credits. The song is also a dedication to her native Iceland, an example of Björk's desire to have a conceptual focus on the country for Homogenic.

Requested by Jason in Cleveland! Celebrating 1994!!! This was written for the movie "The Crow." James O'Barr, who created The Crow and draws the comic, is a big fan of The Cure and listened to them a lot formulating the movie. He was thrilled when Robert Smith of The Cure agreed to write an original song for the film. -- The song was written recorded at a time when the band was undergoing one of its numerous lineup changes and features only vocalist Robert Smith and former drummer Boris Williams. Smith felt that this state of flux may have been the creative spark for writing and recording the track: "The whole thing was turned around in like two days... I just had the idea and we just recorded like me and him in the studio... very much like I did the 'Top' album, actually, he just sort of jammed the drums and I was just playing along."

Four years of listening to bands that sounded like Dave Navarro humping Jimmy Page’s mailbox had left me feeling like playing the guitar was a pointless exercise, but here was a band that was smarter than anything I’d heard in a decade...Within a year of that record, every other band in Seattle sounded like Built to Spill, and yet there was no shame in it. They were no Nirvana, they were small and secret and communicating in a northwestern dialect that wouldn’t translate to the outside world. New music! It's Alvvays (in their extra shoegazey arc)! Their new full length for the first time in a long time, Blue Rev, is out October 7. The band’s third studio album comes five years after 2017’s Antisocialites and eight years after a self-titled debut. Alvvays recorded Blue Rev with Shawn Everett, and the record includes new members, drummer Sheridan Riley and bassist Abbey Blackwell. 1994!!! Split is their third studio album, released on 4AD on June 13, 1994. English rock band Lush was formed in London in 1987. The original members of the band consisted of Miki Berenyi, Emma Anderson, Steve Rippon and Chris Acland however Phil King replaced Rippon in 1991. They were one of the first bands to be coined as the genre shoegaze.

NEW YEAH YEAH YEAHS!! According to a press release, “Burning” was somewhat inspired by the Four Seasons’ “Beggin’.” Karen O explained in a statement: Back when I was 19 living in the East Village, one night a roommate dragged me out of the apartment for an impromptu drink across the street, I left a votive candle burning on a plastic yaffa block which in my absence set flame to my room. Within an hour and a half of having one drink down the block firefighters had come and gone extinguishing the fire, I came home to find that a natural disaster had occurred (to my room) and most of my stuff, lost in the flames. All electronic goods were melted and demolished like my laptop, cameras, etc., but oddly enough the items that held the most sentimental value remained intact like sketchbooks, a favorite sweater with hearts across the chest, and photographs. I had photos of my parents in their youth where the fire burnt around the two of them as if there was some intangible force field protecting them, many photos like that, mysteriously leaving the beloved subjects untouched.

Makaya McCraven is an American jazz drummer and bandleader who was was born in Paris, France, to jazz drummer father Stephen McCraven and Hungarian singer Ágnes Zsigmondi and from the age of three was raised in and around Amherst and Northampton, Massachusetts You might know him from his work on We’re New Again: A Reimagining by Makaya McCraven, which was a "reimagining" of the great album, I'm New Here, by Gil Scott-Heron
