"What Is and What Should Never Be" was one of Robert Plant's first songs recorded by the band, and also marks the first appearance of drummer John Bonham's Chinese gong, which he set up as part of his drum kit in concerts. The gong appears in the middle part among Jimmy Page's guitar riffs. The song was also one of the first debut appearances of Jimmy Page's Gibson Les Paul guitar. The guitar is heard here hopping back and forth between stereo channels.
Released OTD back in 2021. Happy 3rd!!

This Brooklyn-based band’s seventh album is a more expansive take on the band’s sardonic post-punk, featuring more prominent dance beats along with more spacy psychedelic and dub textures on songs critiquing gentrification, police brutality, dehumanizing modern technology and mass commodification while celebrating community.

It's Zeppelin II Day!
This tune was heavily influenced by Howlin' Wolf's 1964 song "Killing Floor". The lyrics "squeeze my lemon" are borrowed from Robert Johnson's "Travelling Riverside Blues" - which is part of Led Zeppelin's practice of adapting and transforming older blues songs
One of the defining classics of Chicago electric blues. In addition to Led Zeppelin adapting it for their song "The Lemon Song"
It was famously performed by Jimi Hendrix during his first jam with Cream in London.
This song was originally recorded by Skip James in 1931 in Grafton, Wisconsin. It was part of a session where James recorded 18 tracks in one night for Paramount Records in a makeshift studio in a chair factory attic.
Cover of Tom Petty's "You Wreck Me", from the Official Soundtrack of the Apple TV+ series Bad Monkey!
Performed by The War On Drugs
Released: 10/4!
Seattle-based trio, Deep Sea Diver has recently signed with Sub Pop Records!
Of this new single, Jessica Dobson shares, "It is my nod to the simplicity of my favorite Tom Petty songs and to my love for Wim Wenders’ film Paris, Texas. The feeling of standing in the lonesome desert, embracing every particle of yourself, even the ones that are hard to look at, and fighting for your spirit to move through this world without entanglement. It is about being present and embracing the future while wholeheartedly letting go of any amount of control that I think I have in this life. ‘Billboard Heart’ is both a longing for something that may not exist and a place where I can be free." tinyurl.com

"Yola is back. The English R&B singer returns today with “Future Enemies,” her first new music in three years, which also serves as the lead single to her November-bound EP My Way. Backed with some hard-hitting synths,”Future Enemies” is billed as an “anthem for acquaintances” about navigating the early stages of getting to know someone. Yola says in a press release:
There is a moment when you realize you’re not going to get on with someone. They haven’t noticed yet, so you have a unique opportunity to disappear from their lives before they ever realise you were destined to be enemies. It’s a luxury to not have an endless supply of negative memories about someone cause you never made them. “Why don’t we just not!” I choose to save my time for situations, spaces and people that have no ticking timer of inevitable doom, because they don’t see me or centre a reality that does not serve me or my wellbeing. Of course when you’re a woman, culturally black (as well as physically black), dark skinned (and feminine in energy), plus size (and willfully main character in energy), from a whole different continent and living in the west- let’s say you’re going to have to be both vigilant and choosy in life, in love in work. Oh and if you also want to be real, girl!!""

"Los Angeles shoegaze quartet Mo Dotti take their name from Italian photographer and communist revolutionary Tina Modotti, whose life as an artist began when she moved to California and took up acting in the early 20th century. Her most famous work, however, was produced while living in Mexico, capturing hazy, somewhat anonymized images of working class people."

New single from the Cure, with a new album out November 1st!!!
“Alone,” said Robert Smith in a press release, is “the track that unlocked the record; as soon as we had that piece of music recorded I knew it was the opening song, and I felt the whole album come into focus. I had been struggling to find the right opening line for the right opening song for a while, working with the simple idea of ‘being alone’, always in the back of my mind this nagging feeling that I already knew what the opening line should be… as soon as we finished recording I remembered the poem ‘Dregs’ by the English poet Ernest Dowson… and that was the moment when I knew the song—and the album—were real.” pitchfork.com
Released OTD in 2012.

“We started kicking PMA (postive mental attitude) in our music, and the message was different than the regular punk rock. You know, a punk rocker can write a song about hate─I hate my mom or some shit, you know? We wasn’t on no shit like that. Some kids who wanted to see some regular shit saw us, and every kid’s heart and mind was opened. It’s like you’re just going to see some regular reggae music, and Bob Marley is playing. You might walk away from that and go, ‘Damn, that’s some
