[satchi-danan-da] Welcome to Early with Eva Walker, Mon-Fri 5-7am! Happy heavenly birthday (1937) Alice Coltrane (née McLeod, D. January 12, 2007), also known by her adopted Sanskrit name Turiyasangitananda [turiyasan-gi-tanan-da] or Turiya Alice Coltrane, was an American jazz musician and composer, and in her later years a swamini. One of the few harpists in the history of jazz, she recorded many albums as a bandleader, beginning in the late 1960s and early 1970s for Impulse! and other major record labels. She was married to jazz saxophonist and composer John Coltrane, with whom she performed in 1966–67.

"There are three challenges in my life. The first is being black in a white culture. The second is being transgendered in a hetero-normative culture. The third is being an artist in a business culture” - Glenn-Copeland Keyboard Fantasies (1986) is an ahead-of-it’s-time synth exploration which somehow combines the essence of new-age minimalism, early Detroit techno and the warmth of traditional songwriting. beverlyglenncopeland.com beverlyglenn-copeland.bandcamp.com

''Dance, No One's Watching' is an ode to the sacred, yet joyous act of dancing, an album that musically guides you through a night out in the city, from the opening of possibilities as a new evening spans out ahead, to dawn’s final hours as the night comes to a close." The group took home the 2023 Mercury Prize - learn more and pre-order: ezracollective.bandcamp.com
