Pearl Jam have announced Dark Matter, their 12th album and the follow-up to 2020’s Gigaton. Guitarist Mike McCready has promised an album that’s "a lot heavier than you’d expect" in an interview with Classic Rock last fall. The band’s world tour stops in nine countries and 25 cities. Dark Matter‘s lead single and title track does indeed feel like a return to Pearl Jam’s classic ’90s grungy hard rock vibes.

In 2003 Ibrahim released his second solo album for World Circuit, ‘Buenos Hermanos,’ an album that is firmly rooted in tradition but at the same time expands the horizons of Cuban music with its varied repertoire. The album received almost universal praise, going on to win both GRAMMY and Latin Grammy awards.

On this day in 1995, Tricky released "Maxinquaye" in the US
Tricky's 1995 album Maxinquaye has been remastered for a new reissue.
Out in October 2023, the updated release features the full original album, as well as six new "reincarnated" versions of album tracks which were recorded by Tricky in 2022.
The new release is rounded out by previously unreleased BBC session tracks recorded with a full live band in the autumn of 1995, as well as a recording of 'Black Steel' performed live at Glastonbury that same year and some additional rough monitor mixes.

As the legend goes, Kurt Cobain stopped by KCMU (what would become KEXP) after the release of Nirvana’s first 7-inch single, Love Buzz / Big Cheese. He personally handed over a copy to the station then sat in his car with his radio tuned in and waited to hear his song. When he didn’t hear it, he called in and requested the song himself.
