In a 1985 interview, Bush explained the meaning of this iconic song: "It's about a relationship between a man and a woman. They love each other very much, and the power of the relationship is something that gets in the way. It creates insecurities.
"It's saying if the man could be the woman and the woman the man, if they could make a deal with God, to change places, that they'd understand what it's like to be the other person and perhaps it would clear up misunderstandings. You know, all the little problems; there would be no problem." bit.ly

saxophonist/bandleader Washington’s first new original music in nearly a year, features some of Washington’s regular collaborators, such as Brandon Coleman, Allakoi Peete, Cameron Graves, Ronald Bruner Jr., Miles Mosley, and others. -- Washington said of his new song in a press release: “The world feels turned upside down. There’s so much push and pull in every direction, from everyone you meet—no one knows what to think, who to believe, or how to approach life right now. No matter how smart you are, it’s hard not to feel blind.” kamasiwashington.bandcamp.com See Kamasi's 2016 KEXP in-studio performance here: bit.ly

Fantastic Negrito has returned with details of his forthcoming album and companion film 'White Jesus Black Problems,' and has unveiled "Highest Bidder" as the first single.
He says of the new release, "That song’s as true today as it’s ever been. The Egyptians, the Persians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Americans, everything goes to the highest bidder. It’s human nature. People always want to have the best. It’s all predicated on extracting the most out of other people for the least. In this country, we worship billionaires while parts of some cities look like what we’d call the third world. I’m trying to convey what I see when I walk down the street here in Oakland."

Band leader James Murphy explained the song in 2010: "I wanted to make something with a happy ending. I wanted it to be about being in a band and how much I like it. (Although) I don't like leaving my life. You leave your home, your friends, your dog. It was always supposed to be a non-professional experiment. I think it is still a non-professional experiment, but it's a non-professional experiment that takes up a much bigger part of my life than I expected."
