Los Angeles-based, solo material from Cameron Graves, the pianist on saxophonist Kamasi Washington’s much admired 2015 orchestral release The Epic, and Washington’s scalding, hoarsely voiced tenor sound is conspicuously present in this Graves-led septet that also features such LA luminaries as bassist Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner on two tracks, and his drummer brother Ronald on all.
