Brand new track! Puerto Rican, LA-based multi-instrumentalist. As a young, university-trained musician looking to find his way in this tropical space, Pachy García (a/k/a Pachyman) became obsessed with old Jamaican dub records like the ones from King Tubby and Scientist and is determined to re-create the vibe in his own way. Garcia is perhaps best known as the drummer/vocalist for the L.A.-based band Prettiest Eyes, a unique pop-noise project that reflects his other formative interest, synth punk.

Chile. Brand new track from her upcoming album! "Tenochtitlán" emerges from three key concepts: self-worth, social judgment, and reinvention. It's a narrative where both those who criticize and those who support and aid us appear. "The song is about how I've come to feel. I could assure that everybody has been judged by prejudices at some point," says Mon.

One of the most famous indigenous singers on the South American continent. Born in Qala-Qala, Potosi, Bolivia, Luzmila has been singing since the mid 1960’s of her homeland, of the Pachamama, of nature and her people in Quechua, a language thought to be more than 2,000 years old. Chakana Sagrada is Luzmila Carpio’s second single from her upcoming album “Inti Watana - El Retorno del Sol”. With its delicate bell sounds, Chakana Sagrada may initially sound like a childhood lullaby, but the song’s true aim is inspired by the night sky and, with its thundering rhythms, it’s also quite comfortable on the dancefloor. An ancient geographic symbol known as the Andean cross, the Chakana is also a reference to the Southern Cross constellation, and ‘Chakana Sagrada’ has a similarly cosmic orientation, its lyrics packed with references to the stars and “day zero” on the Aymaran calendar. That said, the track is ultimately about connection—with Mother Earth, the cosmos and the richness (both spiritual and material) they have to offer.
Tune in to KEXP on Monday, October 9th as we celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day.
