Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard both played on Mother Love Bone before playing with Pearl Jam.
The last band that we played. Well, there was a very sad ending to Mother Love Bone. Lead singer Andrew Wood passed away in 1990. That is when Chris Cornell wrote some songs for Wood, and reached out to surviving members of Mother Love Bone (Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament) to see if they wanted to make a single. This lead to the Temple of the Dog we know today, and also showcased most of what was becoming the Pearl Jam we know and love.
Chris Cornell has been one busy guy. Playing in Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave, and some solo stuff! Dang!! Also, did you know that Soundgarden was the first of the grunge era bands to sign to a major label? Well, now you know!! chriscornell.com
