When he's not writing essays about Morrissey or Joni Mitchell, Sean Nelson can be found hosting KEXP's Audioasis or writing for The Stranger. This track comes from the last Harvey Danger LP, Little By Little.
Featured on Eddie Vedder's soundtrack for the Sean Penn joint Into the Wild (which won Vedder a Golden Globe for Best Original Song). Vedder is 5'7" and could clearly snap my neck.
Chris Cornell will be at Benaroya Hall on September 29th, playing songs from his forthcoming solo LP and entire back catalog. It is sold out. This track was featured on the Singles soundtrack. Most of Matt Dillon's clothes from the movie belonged to Jeff Ament.
Mark Lanegan's second solo LP, Whiskey for the Holy Ghost, came out back in 1994. J Mascis (of Dinosaur Jr fame) played drums on several tracks. His most recent album is 2014's Phantom Radio.
First Aid Kit covered this R.E.M. track as part of the soundtrack for the 2014 Reese Witherspoon vehicle Wild. It also featured tracks by Portishead, Leonard Cohen, and Lucinda Williams. (Presumably not covering R.E.M.)
Maribou State have many tour dates throughout Europe this summer. Their new LP, Portraits, was released earlier this month. They have been described as the downtempo Disclosure, which feels a tad reductive.
Jamie xx will play this year's Capitol Hill Block Party. (It is unknown if Romy is invited.) Jamie's new solo LP, In Colour, was released earlier this month and features beautiful cover art.
Portishead have reportedly been working on a new album. It will likely be released around 2025. Portishead's debut LP Dummy was only somewhat commercially successful in the US, but has been certified double-platinum in the UK.
Crater is part of the stacked Capitol Hill Block Party lineup (July 24-26). They play on Friday (24) on the Vera Stage. The local duo recently released a self-titled debut LP.

SOAK (the moniker of Bridie Monds-Watson) will be LIVE on the Morning Show on Monday, August 10th. She will be at Barboza later that night. Their debut LP is titled Before We Forgot How to Dream.
Noah and the Whale broke up earlier this year, following a two-year hiatus. The band's debut, Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down, features a very young Laura Marling on vocals, which is pretty cool.
REM's eigth studio LP, Automatic for the People, proved to be the band's commercial peak, selling 18 million records worldwide. It was partially recorded in Seattle. Also, what if Michael Stipe's name was Michael Stripe. Just sayin'.
Best Coast just recorded a LIVE in-studio at KEXP, but that isn't online just yet. While waiting, check out the band's new LP, California Nights- released back in May. It is quite good.
TV On The Radio is ALSO part of this year's Capitol Hill Block Party. The band was LIVE on KEXP back in 2004, around the time of their debut LP's release- kexp.org.
The Queen Is Dead was released 29 years ago on this date! Presumably, the listener that informed us of this has June 16th circled on his calendar. Morrissey will be at Benaroya Hall on July 21st. It is sold out.
Not to be confused with the new Phil Lesh band Communion, Danish band Communions released a self-titled LP earlier this month. The band shares a practice space with Iceage and Lower. The landlords must be very patient.
"Out of Hand" was The Mighty Lemon Drops' highest charting single in the UK, peaking at No. 66. Featured on an EP of the same name, "Out of Hand"'s video was directed by Derek Jarman.
Originally released as the b-side to "Here Comes Your Man," "Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf version)" was later included on the Complete 'B' Sides collection from 2001. Also, there's this- blog.kexp.org.

This track is the goal song of the Chicago Blackhawks, who just won their third Stanley Cup in six years. It is also one of the more devious earworms ever recorded.
Recorded at the same time of Zen Arcade's release, New Day Rising was finally released six months later (in early 1985). Flip Your Wig followed soon thereafter in late 1985.
FIDLAR will be at Showbox at the Market on Friday, October 23rd. The band's second record, Too, will be released in September. Such a great video for this track- www.youtube.com.

The House of Love's first two albums were both titled The House of Love, which seems like a flawed idea. Their second LP, which features this track, proved to be the band's commercial peak (largely thanks to this single).
This track is featured on the deeply undervalued Wish LP. At the time, Wish was The Cure's commercial peak (No. 1 in the UK, No. 2 in the US), likely thanks to "Friday I'm in Love."
Arcade Fire's finest moment? At least the band's ultimate shout-along track. (Take that, "Wake Up.") Arcade Fire's Will Butler and Owen Pallett were nominated for the Best Original Score Oscar for the Spike Jonze joint Her.
Not to be confused with the prog rock supergroup Flying Colors, Melbourne group Flyying Colours recently released their debut EP- titled EPX2. Let's hope the band tours sometime in the foreseeable future.
Released back in 1988, The Church's Starfish proved to be the band's commercial peak- it has sold over 600k copies in the US alone. It was listed as the 33rd best Australian album in a book titled 100 Best Australian Albums, for whatever that's worth.
The Alchemist and Oh No Present: Welcome to Los Santos mixes parts of the score from Grand Theft Auto V with original tracks from Phantogram, Wavves, and Freddie Gibbs, among others. It will presumably be used as a radio station in GTA.

Until the Ribbon Breaks will play Barboza tonight (6/16), followed by a show at Bunk Bar in Portland, OR (6/17), and shows in California.
Until the Ribbon Breaks's debut LP, A Lesson Unlearnt, was released earlier this year. Pitchfork described them as "avant-R&B savants," which seems pretty apt.
Until the Ribbon Breaks has also released a string of remixes in recent years, including Lorde's "Royals," The Weeknd's "Wicked Games," and Phantogram's "Fall in Love."
Liam Gallagher says that Blur's "Lonesome Street," is the Song of 2015, presumably having forgotten their feud lasting back to the mid-90s. Clearly large portions of the 90s are missing for poor Liam.
When Afghan Whigs signed to Elektra, there was a clause in the contract that funded a Greg Dulli-scripted feature film. This never happened. Also, if you'd forgotten, Greg Dulli is the only musician apart from Dave Grohl to appear on the debut Foo Fighters LP.

Catchiest song to mention Gertrude Stein? In fact, the only song to mention Gertrude Stein? There should be some way to search this. 100 Broken Windows was Idlewild's sophomore LP, released back in 2000.
