Jesus & Mary Chain are continuing their world tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of Psychocandy. The band originally told journalists that they got their name from a Bing Crosby film, but this was later retracted. Other sources say it came from a breakfast cereal packet.

The Verve's 1997 Urban Hymns LP has been certified 10x platinum in the UK. It remains the 17th-best selling album in UK History. While this does not necessarily mean the music is great, I can say the record's pretty solid.

No YOU Don't Change, INXS. Next Tuesday, June 30th, KEXP will have an INXS Cover Night, featuring Telekinesis mastermind Michael Benjamin Lerner, Sean Nelson, The Wild Ones, Cataldo, and others. All proceeds benefit KEXP's New Home.

If you're looking for further proof that love is dead, Ryan Adams is no longer married to Mandy Moore. Ryan's most recent LP, Live at Carnegie Hall, came out earlier this year. He also released a self-titled album last year (his first in three years).

The Tallest Man on Earth is only 5'7", which seems a bit cocky. Come on, Kristian Matsson. Matsson's brand-new album, Dark Bird Is Home, came out back in May. He is touring much of Europe and the US this summer and fall.
Travis named themselves after Harry Dean Stanton's character in the great Wim Wenders film Paris, Texas. Travis's third LP, The Invisible Band, spent four weeks atop the UK Charts. This song peaked at No. 3 on the single charts.

Just another Prince song about sex- don't mind him. Prince's 1999 was his first album with The Revolution, and proved to be his commercial breakthrough. It was certified multi-platinum. Also, I now have between 7 and 8 inches on him, which is pretty cool.
Sufjan's latest album, Carrie & Lowell, is about the artist's late mother and stepfather. Also, Sufjan was just in Seattle, playing two nights at the Paramount (both attended by Cheryl Waters). Stream the LP on his website- music.sufjan.com.
Amazing new Telekinesis track! (debuted on the Morning Show last week). It is part of Michael Benjamin Lerner's new INXS-inspired album, Ad Infinitum. Which makes sense, since the artist is spear-heading the KEXP INXS cover night on June 30th (at Tractor Tavern).
Elbow's 2008 LP The Seldom Seen Kid won the Mercury Music Prize. After the band performed at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics, this track re-entered the UK Charts, peaking at No. 4 (marking a new peak for the band).
Best Animal Collective album? 2009's "My Girls" was inspired by the seminal Frankie Knuckles & Jamie Principle house music track "Your Love." It was also later covered by Tears for Fears, which is pretty cool.
Jamie xx will be at this year's Capitol Hill Block Party in support of his so, so good new solo record In Colour. Jamie first gained widespread exposure (xx non-withstanding) when he remixed Gil Scott-Heron's I'm New Here LP, re-titled as We're New Here.
Chemical Brothers + St. Vincent = DAMN good track. Not a big surprise. This track will be featured on Born in the Echoes, the first new album from Chemical Brothers since 2010's Further LP.
Last Friday, De La Soul played a show at the EMP. From all reports, it was quite good indeed. This track comes from the band's 1989 debut, 3 Feet High and Rising. Robert Christgau liked it, which makes up for his dismissal of (the equally good) De La Soul Is Dead.
Some Mick Jones on the Morning Show. "The Globe" (from the 1991 album of the same name) samples The Clash's "Should I Stay Or Should I Go," which Jones wrote for 1982's Combat Rock LP. The Globe was certified gold in the US.

Delta Spirit have a long tour of the US planned for this summer, which does not include a Seattle date. Taking that one personally. This track comes from the band's debut EP, I Think I've Found It, released back in 2006.
The Clash's Sandinista! release has proven divisive, despite being voted the best album of 1980 in the Village Voice Pop & Jazz Poll. The title references the Sandinista movement in Nicaragua (1930s movement against US occupation of Nicaragua).

Ducktails started as the moniker of Real Estate member Matt Mondanile back in 2009. Now, Mondanile & crew are set to release a new LP, St. Catherine, on July 24th. Mondanile also runs the New Images record label.
WATERS was formed by Van Pierszalowski, the ex-frontman of Port O'Brian, after that project broke up. The band's new album, What's Real, was released back in April.
Hot Chip's new album Why Make Sense? comes in 501 different color variations, all based on the same design. This was done using a bespoke printing technique, and must have been quite expensive. The band is playing many shows throughout the UK and US during the summer.
If one wants to Google "!!!," they should perhaps try instead "Chk Chk Chk," as that actually warrants search results. This track comes from the band's 2010 effort, titled Strange Weather, Isn't It? I cannot confirm if it was, in fact, strange weather.
Originally released as the b-side to "Never Enough," "Harold and Joe" was later featured on the Join the Dots LP, which collection various Cure rarities. "Never Enough" topped the Billboard Charts upon its release.
