Multiple track names from Satchel's debut LP EDC were taken from the Quentin Tarantino film Reservoir Dogs. We can presume this was out of respect, but who's to tell. They released three albums, but Shawn Smith remains quite active.

R.E.M.'s Out of Time won the Best Alternative Music Grammy in 1992, because, y'know, why not? Out of Time spent 109 weeks on the Billboard Charts, including two stays at No. 1. It has sold over 4.5 million copies in the US.

The Howl Sessions collected unused tracks from the 2005 Black Rebel Motorcycle Club LP Howl. BRMC have played several sets at KEXP, most recently in 2013- kexp.org.

Jason Isbell is playing Friday, August 7 at The Moore Theater. The ex-Drive-By Trucker guitarist's forthcoming record, Something More Than Free, is out tomorrow (7/17). Everyone likes it except Pitchfork.

SOAK will be at Barboza on Monday, August 10th. She will be LIVE at 9:30 that day on The Morning Show. She is 18, which makes me feel very inadequate about my progress indeed. Her debut is titled Before We Forgot How To Dream.

Leon Bridges has a really nice voice. Like a REALLY nice voice. Sam Cooke for the GQ/Kardashians-era. His debut LP Coming Home debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Charts when it came out back in late-June.

If Leon Bridges is Sam Cooke for the GQ-era, what would Mark Lanegan be? Frank Sinatra raised on punk? This track comes from Lanegan's so, so good solo effort Whiskey for the Holy Ghost.

This track comes from Akron Family's fourth studio LP, Set 'Em Wild Set 'Em Free. The apostrophes are necessary. Around the time that album came out, they played a KEXP in-studio: kexp.org.

Mirah's excellent sophomore effort Advisory Committee was produced by the artist and Mount Eerie/Microphones mastermind Phil Elvrum. Apart from her solo stuff, Mirah also released a collaborative record with Thao, aptly titled Thao + Mirah.

"One Tree Hill" was inspired by the death of U2 roadie/assistant Greg Carroll, and reflect Bono's thoughts at his funeral. The lyrics were recorded in just one take- Bono said he felt incapable of singing them a second time.

UK group Haelos' new EP, Earth Not Above, will soon be released on Matador. And their name is actually spelled HÆLOS, just by the way. Pitchfork described them as "Massive Attack's enigmatic kid sister," which is what I've always wanted to be.

Oscar's debut EP, Beautiful Words, came out back in late-June. The London artist's music has been called "music to hide in the corner of a club to," which is accurate? Sad, but accurate.

Echo & The Bunnymen hates this album. Recorded in the year's following 1984's Ocean Rain LP, Will Seargent has called the record "an overcooked fish." Ian McCulloch also says "It still sounds crap." Come on, guys.

In recent Ryan Adams news, Ryan has led the crusade to rescue an abandoned New Zealand cat from a cemetery. Ryan encountered the cat while grave-robbing (or just hanging out). It remains "at large."

When he's not hanging out with Lana Del Rey, Dan Auerbach forms new bands. His latest project, The Arcs, will release their debut LP Yours, Dreamly in September. It is unknown if they know that the title is misspelled. It will continue to bother me.

Such a sublime moment in the film. Stop Making Sense remains notable for being the first film made entirely using digital audio techniques. Also, Pauline Kael called it "close to perfection," so kudos, Jonathan Demme.

Communions share a practice space with fellow Danes Iceage and Lower, but sound drastically different. Don't confused them with Phil Lesh's new band (Communion). Their new record came out back in June.

The Mighty Lemon Drops were originally named Sherbet Monsters, which is amazing. What would have happened if they kept that name, we'll never know for sure. This track comes from their debut Happy Head.

Today at NOON, Piano in the Parks 2015 kicks off at Lake Union Park hosted by John Richards (of Morning Show). Not affiliated in any way with Wavves x Cloud Nothings, who just released a collaborative record. Are Nathan from Wavves and Bethany Cosentino still dating?

Surfer Rosa has all of Black Francis's obsessions on display- mutilation, Spanish, sex, surrealism, et al. Despite not selling well, and lead single "Gigantic" only reaching No. 93 on the UK Charts, 4AD's head said the response was five times bigger than Come On Pilgrim.

Montreal band Ought will release their new LP, Sun Coming Down, on September 18th. They founded in 2011, and lived together in a communal practice space when recording their early material. Heavy Fall-vibe.

Modest Mouse will be at The Paramount on August 24-25. Isaac Brock and Jack White were born on the same day, which means that Isaac Brock is as old as Jack White? Jack White seems ancient. Like at least 60 by this point.

King Missle's "Detachable Penis" reached No. 25 on the Billboard Modern Rock Charts, because it was 1992. It was featured on their 1992 album Happy Hour.

Diane Coffee is the moniker of Foxygen drummer Shaun Fleming. His Wikipedia page says that he is a voice actor on the show Kim Possible and a renowned didgeridoo maker, but I'm inclined to believe that is false.

Grace Love & The True Loves will be at this weekend's Timber! Music Festival (July 16-18) in Carnation, Washington. They will also play Bumbershoot on September 5th. Let's hope someday they release a full-length.

The Slew consists of Kid Koala, Dynomite D, and two members of Wolfmother. Their debut LP, 100%, came out back in 2009. Kid Koala's said he's working on a follow-up, which features guest vocalists Jon Spencer & Mike Patton.

Local group The Saturday Knights is made up of Tilson, Barfly and DJ Suspence. Their 2008 debut LP remains their sole album. Back in 2007, they played a set on KEXP: www.kexp.org.

Shad is one talented dude. Apart from consistently releasing excellent music, Shad is also the host of the CBC Radio One program Q. This track comes from his EP from late last year- Boarding Pass.

The Chemical Brothers' forthcoming LP Born in the Echoes has been hailed as a comeback for the group, following their 2010 LP Further. Guest vocalists on the new one include Beck, Cate Le Bon, St. Vincent, and Q-Tip.

Afrika Bombataataa & Soulsonic Force's pioneering track "Planet Rock" peaked at No. 3 on the US Dance Charts and No. 4 on the Soul Charts. It samples Kraftwerk's "Numbers" and "Trans-Europe Express."

Australian group Architecture in Helsinki are responsible for some of the most beautiful architecture in Helsinki, including the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art and the Sinebrychoff Art Museum. Good work, you guys.

John Richards coming through with the slow jamz. Miguel will be at Showbox Sodo on August 23rd. The artist's third album, Wildheart, was just came out- it debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Charts.

Failure will be at The Showbox on Friday, August 28th. The band's new album is their first since 1996's Fantastic Planet (that's 18/19 years, if you're keeping track). Play it loud.

Josh Homme has sort of a mean jock vibe, am I right? Like he would have stuffed you into a locker back in 10th grade. Maybe that's just a projection. Sorry, Josh. This track comes from his excellent 2013 record ...Like Clockwork.

Jim Jarmusch has secured funding to finish his long-anticipated documentary about Iggy Pop. Knowing Jarmusch, it'll probably be plot-less and completely amazing. No Tom Hiddleston in this one though.

This Saturday, The Both will be at The Crocodile, supported by Sick Sad World. For the uninitiated, the band is made up of Aimee Mann & Ted Leo, and released their excellent debut LP in early-2014.
