From The Pixies' 1988 debut, 'Surfer Rosa', "Where is My Mind?" is inspired by frontman, Black Francis' experiences scuba diving in the Caribbean.

The Sundays cover The Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses" (originally released in 1971, 'Sticky Fingers') on their 1992 sophomore release, 'Blind'. The Sundays formed in the summer of 1987 in London. Originally, the group consisted of vocalist Harriet Wheeler and guitarist David Gavurin. After a few songs had been written, they added bassist Paul Brindley and drummer Patrick Hannan.

To all running the Boston Marathon today! "Heroes" was written by David Bowie and Brian Eno and released on September 23rd, 1977 via the album of the same name. Inspired by the sight of Bowie's manager Tony Visconti embracing his girlfriend by the Berlin Wall, the song tells the story of two lovers, one from East and one from West Berlin.
"Love Will Tear Us Apart" was written in August 1979, and debuted when the band supported Buzzcocks. It was officially released as a single in June 1980 and became the band's first chart hit.
The National have undertaken another epic project: 'Day of the Dead', a tribute to the Grateful Dead. The curated collection features 59 tracks (6 hours) with artists like The War on Drugs, Courtney Barnett, Jenny Lewis, and of course, The National themselves. 'Day of the Dead' will rise on May 19th via 4AD.

For all the Boston Marathoners running today! Jonathan Richman’s band the Modern Lovers first recorded “Roadrunner” with producer John Cale (previously of the Velvet Underground) in 1972.
Minneapolis' Night Moves is John Pelant and Micky Alfano coming together in 2010 to meld the 70s with a country twang. A couple of years later the band signed with Domino and just released their sophomore release. They'll be at the Sunset Tavern on May 6th.
“I was spending my days going into my basement, being in the dark while it was sunny outside,” is how Pelant sums up the making of Pennied Days.

American post-rock band, Explosions in the Sky released 'The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place' in 2003. The quartet of Texas kids are made up of Mark Smith and Munaf Rayani on guitars, Michael James on bass, and Christopher Hrasky on drums.
Majical Clouds is Canadian pop duo from Montreal consisting of singer-songwriter Devon Welsh and producer Matthew Otto.
This group formed in 2004 by frontman Ed Wallis after his previous outfit had dissolved after moving to London for university. According to a 2010 interview, Wallis decided to "record a load of songs myself and call it My Sad Captains".
M83 are a French electronic music band led by Anthony Gonzalez and is now based in Los Angeles. The group has released seven full-length albums and two soundtracks including, 'Saturdays = Youth' which was released in 2008.
Ought formed in 2011 playing often in Montreal and the members began living together in a communal band practice space while they recorded their earliest material.
Released just days after the death of bassist Gerard Smith, 'Seeds' was planted in 2014 after a 3 year hiatus. The group began when multi-instrumentalist/producer David Andrew Sitek moved into the building where vocalist Tunde Adebimpe had a loft. Both had been recording music on their own and realized that their music blended well together and thus became TV On The Radio.
The Dandy Warhols just dropped their latest record, 'Distortland' on April 8th. The Dandy Warhols were founded by Courtney Taylor (vocals, guitar), Zia McCabe (keyboards), Peter Holmstrom (guitar), and Eric Hedford (drums) in 1994 in Portland, OR.
