UNKLE (James Levelle and DJ Shadow) were one of the original groups releasing work through U.K. label Mo' Wax, which helped launch the instrumental breakbeat revival also termed as trip-hop. Apart from utilizing samples and merging trip-hop with rock, this record collaborates with a variety of musicians including Richard Ashcroft on this track.

Frontman Chris O'Connor recorded the material that comprises 'Rocket' at a friend's garage, releasing it independently. Somehow, the song "Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in My Hand" made its way to the soundtrack for Jim Carrey's comedy The Cable Guy, and the tune became a surprise hit and Rocket was released via Columbia Records.

Modest Mouse were founded in 1993 by guitarist and vocalist Isaac Brock, bassist Eric Judy, and drummer Jeremiah Green. Brock was only 18 and living in a shed next to his mother's trailer home when Modest Mouse began working together, with the shed becoming the new band's rehearsal space and base of operations. They released their debut on Northwest indie Up Records in 1996.
