Originally brought together by Mute founder Daniel Miller for 2011's Mute Short Circuit Festival, labelmates James Chapman (Maps) and Polly Scattergood decided to continue their collaboration via onDeadWaves.
Minor Victories is a supergroup of sorts that includes: vocalist Rachel Goswell (Slowdive), guitarists Stuart Braithwaite (Mogwai) and Justin Lockey (Editors), and bassist James Lockey. The group was never all in the same room during the recording process and some had never met in person. They jokingly hint at this in their liner notes...“We made this record as a band, because who really knows what a band is nowadays anyway?”
After 20 years, Lush has returned to tour and released their EP, 'Blind Spot' this past April. Initially starting out as Baby Machines (taken from Siouxsie and the Banshee's "Arabian Nights"), they added a couple of members and evolved into their signature shoegazing sound that defines them as Lush.

Following the success of 1997's 'OK Computer', Radiohead felt exhausted and Thom Yorke felt disillusioned with music. In an article with the Guardian Yorke mentioned how he listened exclusively to Aphex Twin and other Warp artists while writing Kid A, "It was refreshing because the music was all structures and had no human voices in it. But I felt just as emotional about it as I'd ever felt about guitar music."
'Total Depravity' is the upcoming new record from The Veils, set to drop on August 26th. El-P, Adam “Atom” Greenspan, and Veils frontman Finn Andrew all helped to produce the new effort. "King of Pain" was written by The Police's bassist, Sting about his separation from his first wife: "I conjured up symbols of pain and related them to my soul. A black spot on the sun struck me as being a very painful image, and I felt that was my soul up there on there on the sun. It's just projecting your state into the world of symbolism, which is what poetry's all about, really."

This exposure to live performance inspired him to start his first band Roadstar when he was 11.
Júníus Meyvant is the alias of Icelandic singer-songwriter Unnar Gísli Sigurmundsson who will be performing at this year's Iceland Airwaves Festival. When he was younger, he was suspended from music school and didn't touch an instrument until his early 20s. He managed to tame his musical style and released his latest, 'Floating Harmonies'.

'Saturdays=Youth' is the fifth studio LP from the French electronic group, M83 released in April 2008. In an interview with Interview Magazine, frontman Anthony Gonzalez talks about how he approaches the group like scoring a film, "For me this is definitely a teen movie because it talks about teenagers and all the issues teenagers can have. It’s also a story about dance, and I did all the music for the dance scenes. It’s beautifully filmed and directed. It’s a shame the movie isn’t out."

'Surfer Rosa' is the debut release of the Pixies from 1988. The record took ten days to record and they used unusual techniques to do so including recording Kim Deal's vocal in the studio's bathroom to achieve a "real echo" rather than a "studio echo" according to producer, Steve Albini.

"Ghosts I've Met" is a musical project that came to be in Seattle in 2005 by singer songwriter & musician Sam Watts.
The group was formed by Watts in Seattle along with guitarist Ben Blankenship and cellist Brent Arnold both formerly of Seattle band Modest Mouse
In 2011 Ghosts released their first full-length vinyl album (also out on Yerbird) entitled “From A Spark” which features guitarist Bill Patton (Fleet Foxes, J.Tillman) as well as Jenna Conrad (Damien Jurado).
