Happy belated Birthday Richard Ashcroft! "Bitter Sweet Symphony" is the lead track hailing from The Verve's third release, 'Urban Hymns'. The song samples Andrew Loog Oldham's 1965 orchestral version of The Rolling Stones' song "The Last Time". Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were eventually added to the songwriting credits after The Verve was sued for using more sampling than what was originally negotiated in their licensing.

Glaswegian based Frightened Rabbit released 'The Winter of Mixed Drinks' in 2010. In an interview with Death & Taxes, vocalist Scott explains the album title, "it relates to the whole notion that after a certain period of time, you just feel like you’re drifting and don’t know what your purpose is. The drink can contribute to that feeling of nothingness." The line-up currently consists of Scott Hutchison, Grant Hutchison, Billy Kennedy, Andy Monaghan, and Simon Liddell.

Body/Head and Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon recently collaborated with Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa for this one-off industrial single, "Murdered Out". In an interview with Rolling Stone, she explains the song's inception...I was interested in how [black matte spray] is a subliminal way of X-ing yourself out of the culture. It's intentionally restrictive; it reclaims something that’s shiny, fetishistic, what was once a driving force of American production and part of L.A. culture – the car. [Black matte spray] is away saying that there’s nothing in mainstream culture for you."
