Originally the producer Keith Forsey asked Cy Curnin from The Fixx, Bryan Ferry and Billy Idol to record the Don't You, but all three declined. Billy Idol later covered it on a Greatest Hits album. Simple Minds refused it first as well!

In the 90s, crude technology existed to sample sounds and then you could mix those sampled sounds with things you played. Land of the Loops understood the implications of this dynamic and made some records that mixed samples and live instruments.
