Beck claimed that the song originally had ten verses, which were cut down for commercial release."Got No Mind," a re-recorded, electric full-band arrangement of "Pay No Mind,", features three of the seven verses of "Pay No Mind" that were cut on Mellow Gold. 'Here Come the Warm Jets" was Brian Eno's debut album which he released shortly after leaving Roxy Music. Brian Ferry and Eno had some, shall we say, creative differences which led Eno to go out on a solo career. Interesting that all of Roxy Music's members play on this album, with the exception of Ferry. However, Eno does a great imitation of Ferry on the track "Dead Finks Don't Talk"

As a working-track, this song was played in live concerts since 1999. It was written during the Ágætis byrjun studio sessions and was known as "Rokklagið" ("The Rock Song"). The song was never released until 2007, when it was recorded in studio, and featured on Hvarf as Hljómalind. The new name came from a record store in Reykjavík called Hljómalind, which was run by the band's manager
