A request from a listener in Columbus, OH who said "recently saw them and have to say they put on a perfect rock show." The Russian judge would have probably given them an 8.0...
this is a new project from Massive Attack’s Robert “3D” Del Naja and longtime collaborator Euan Dickinson. The 'Obia' EP has been released on Tricky's False Idols label and the collection showcases works by emerging and established artists specially chosen by Tricky.
The main female vocalist on this album is the Italian singer Costanza Francavilla, a previous fan who approached Tricky at one of his shows and gave him a CD of her songs. 'Vunerable' is Tricky's sixth studio album and, at the time, he said "I called this album Vulnerable, because it's my most honest and open record. On this album, I've stopped hiding, and I'm allowing people to see different sides of the real me."
Cohen released this single last month on his 82nd birthday. If you're a Peaky Blinders fan, it may sound familiar because there was a snippet of the song in an episode earlier this year. The album drops later this month on October 21st. Just in time for Halloween...scary!
Requested by Mike in Miami as he awaits the storm...take care man. KEXP will be here to get you through and drop us a note after it passes so we know you're okay.
Charles Bradley announced yesterday that he has postponed his fall tour after doctors discovered a cancerous tumor in his stomach. "I'm getting the best medical care and we are all extremely optimistic," Bradley said in a statement. "I will fight through this like I've fought through the many other obstacles in my life. My upcoming tour dates will be postponed so I can concentrate on healing. Thank you all for understanding. Music is how I share my love with the world, and the love that my fans have given back brings me so much joy. I look forward to seeing your gorgeous faces soon, and to continue to share my love through music." Our thoughts are with him and we wish him our best.
The pairing of the Walkmen's Hamilton Leithauser and former Vampire Weekend producer/instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij occurred because they're both from Washington DC and “Two years in a row at Thanksgiving and Christmas we would be up in Rostam’s high school bedroom,” Leithauser said. “The first time we were out there, I was just wailing away and singing so loud, and then you heard this voice from the bottom of the stairs, and it’s Rostam’s dad. He’s yelling from downstairs, like, ‘Rostam, are you OK?’ It was like we were teenagers up there.” guess it sounded OK, the album sure does!
Happy Birthday Joy. have a great one!
Blue Origin is launching a rocket today and they are testing the escape pod separation. The separation is expected to blow up the booster, so this should be really good! I wonder how many times someone at Blue Origin has said about a problem "hey, wait a minute, it's not rocket science" only to be told "yeah, it is".
not sure if I'd like to find out how good the "good times" have to be to kill me...but I'm open to trying - bring it!

Debut single from R.E.M. which, according to one reviewer, features "what were to become the trademark unintelligible lyrics which have distinguished R.E.M.'s work ever since."
What are Chemtrails you ask? Well, besides being a great new band, there's a conspiracy theory that the vapor trails from jets are not vapor, but actually contain mind control drugs, hence the term "chemtrails". Yes, really. you can't make this stuff up www.liverpoolecho.co.uk

Naeem Juwan, better known by his stage name Spank Rock, is an American rapper and songwriter from Baltimore. He rose to fame with his 2006 album 'YoYoYoYoYo'. Spank Rock became known for its mixing of disparate hip hop and club genres, including Baltimore club, Miami bass, electro music and rock.
We've got a visitor in the gathering space with an English Settlement t-shirt on, so we have to play XTC. Good thing he wasn't wearing a Paul Anka shirt or you'd be hearing "Having My Baby".
Wolf People are: Jack Sharp (guitar, vocals), Joe Hollick (guitar), Dan Davies (bass) and Tom Watt (drums). Any band whose bio starts with "A.D. 2016 and England is in flux. This bastard island is divided, shot through with doubt and self-loathing, ruled by the feverish egos of passing power hungry-dilettantes, two-bit aristocrats and smiling psychopaths." is worth learning more about! wolfpeople.co.uk
The new album is out next week and, for those that want to see him live again, you’ll have to book a trip to Los Angeles, as his only live performance of 2016 will be at his newly minted vegan festival called Circle V, which touches down on October 23rd at The Fonda Theatre.
The Cure wrote "Burn" for The Crow soundtrack which also features a cover of Joy Division's "Dead Souls" by NIN. Besides being great songs, the inclusion of these two bands in the movie is notable because the influences of both bands are present in the original comic book. James O'Barr, the creator of The Crow, reprinted the lyrics to the song "The Hanging Garden" by The Cure on an entire page, and some chapters of the comic book are named after Joy Division songs - "Atmosphere" and "Atrocity Exhibition" for example.
Phantogram plays a sold-out show at The Paramount Theatre this Friday, October 7th.
