This one is for Caity, who lost her mother to breast cancer after a seven year battle. "The hospice nurses had told us that before my mom died, she needed to say goodbye to all of us, and we needed to tell her it was okay for her to go. Everyone had done that but me. I literally ran into the house and up the stairs into my mom’s room, and she was still alive. I sat there crying at her side, and told her I’d miss her so much and I was so sad that my daughter would never know her, but that we wanted her to be comfortable and it was time for her to go. And right after I said that, she opened her eyes, and looked up at the ceiling and she was definitely SEEING something. We were holding hands. It was just her and me. And then she stopped breathing and died. She had been waiting for me all this time, and now she knew it was okay to go. So she did. It was her choice." For listener Erinn today - "Tom was a soccer player, had good friends, but couldn't muster a sense of humor about the constant taunting that would take place in my homeroom class. I got a call from a friend of mine, "Tom's dead". He'd killed himself. The taunting hadn't stopped when he went home. His mother's boyfriend was a cop, tried to take away Tom's music that would help him escape from the verbal and physical abuses. The next day I got on the bus, dreading the stops where Tom's friends would get on to discover the news. I will never forget the wailing and the silence across the campus once we arrived at school. They provided counselors, but Tom's seat remained empty in class. I kept looking at it and looking to the taunters promising myself to never remain quiet again. Bullying must stop. Speak up against it, please. Do it for Tom"
