Gustavo Alfredo Santaolalla is an Argentine musician, film composer and producer. He has won two Academy Awards for Best Original Score for Brokeback Mountain in 2005 and Babel in 2006.

The lyrics of "Avalanche" are based on a poem Cohen had previously written. He mentioned in a 1992 interview with Paul Zollo that his "chop", his unique syncopated classical guitar pattern is behind many of his early songs including this track. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds also recorded a version of "Avalanche" for their 1984 album From Her to Eternity.

Father John Misty will be playing SMooCH (Seattle Musicians for Children’s Hospital) at the Showbox on Saturday, December 3rd. The xx have shared their new track, "On Hold" from their upcoming release, 'I See You' set to debut on January 13th, 2017. The track prominently samples “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do),” the 1981 hit by Hall and Oates.

Austra, the recording project led by Canadian vocalist and producer Katie Stelmanis will be releasing their third album, 'Future Politics' on January 20th. Stelmanis comments that the record is “a commitment to replace the approaching dystopia. Not just hope in the future, but the idea that everyone is required to help write it, and the boundaries of what it can look like are both fascinating and endless. It’s not about ‘being political,’ it’s about reaching beyond boundaries, in every single field.”

Power, Corruption & Lies is the second studio album by New Order, released in May 1983 on Factory Records. The title of the album was chosen by Bernard Sumner from a 1981 conceptual art exhibition in Cologne, Germany. On the opening night of the exhibition, the artist Gerhard Richter vandalized the exterior of the Kunsthalle by spray painting the text, "Power, Corruption, and Lies"

Frontman Bradford Cox stated "The album's title is a reference to a collection of fond memories and even invented ones, like my friendship with Ricky Wilson or the fact that I live in an abandoned victorian autoharp factory. Kate Tempest is an English poet, spoken word artist and playwright. Tempest recently talked to The Independent on inspiration for 'Let Them Eat Chaos': “If you live in a big city, the impact that will have on you is pretty relentless,” Tempest says, “I understand the kind of toll it takes on people to be so surrounded by life. And obviously the coping mechanism is to exclude as much as you can from your field of vision, so you can focus on the things that you’ve got to do.

Logic Will Break Your Heart is the debut album by the Montreal-based band The Stills. They formed in 2000 and disbanded in 2011.

Singer Hamilton Leithauser told Rolling Stone that "The Rat: originated in a jam session when the band was "just screwin' around." The band's drummer Matt Barrick initiated the track by playing a fast drum pattern. The band then quickly built this foundation into the full track, Leithauser said "we threw some chords on it, I wrote the words in five minutes."

SOVIET SOVIET was born in 2008 in Italy and is comprised of Alessandro (vocals and guitar), Andrea (bass and vocals) and Alessandro (drums).

A Tribe Called Quest just released their sixth and mostly likely final release earlier this November. Before Phife Dawg passed away, he joined fellow Tribe members Q-Tip, Jarobi White and Ali Shaheed Muhammad in the studio to lay down tracks for this album.
