Requested by Greg who said I can't "...think of the band, the song name, or even the tune! So here you go: It's a song that I think is almost spoken word, male singer. The refrain (which I think changes slightly each time) is about finding a golden ticket (or something like that) and there's a note that says something like "I give you a ticket to somewhere..." Ithaca NY has declared February 7th to be International Clash Day! How did Ithaca get its name? It was originally part of the Town of Ulysses, and was split off from it in the 1800's. Ulysses is the Latin name for Odysseus, the King of Ithaca that was the hero of Homer's epic poem The Odyssey. Ithaca is also the home of Cornell University. blog.kexp.org

The song's title refers to an area known as Electric Avenue - first place electricity lit the streets in the area of Brixton, South of London. In the 70's it was known for its high population of Caribbean immigrants and high unemployment. Tensions grew until violence hit the street and the riot is now known as the 1981 Brixton riot. A year later, this song played over the airwaves.
