Happy Birthday Peter Gabriel! Peter rose to fame as the lead singer of Genesis. He left the band in 1975 to pursue a solo career and released his third album "Peter Gabriel (Melt)" in 1980.
Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis stated that "Spanish Sahara" was the first track to be completed on Total Life Forever: "It has no real relevance to the real Spanish Sahara, which none of us have been to. It's kind of an imaginary place - somewhere that's quite nightmarish and ravaged. It's like a desolate landscape and the whole song is like, getting over a trauma, but the trauma doesn't go away and it multiplies from one into a bunch of furies, which was kinda to do with the Greek myths of the furies, who would haunt families and generations."
Smashing Pumpkins track, "Drown" was featuring on the 1992 soundtrack for "Singles". On the 2011 reissue of Gish, the complete version of "Drown" features an alternative guitar solo.
Thom Yorke puts his own spin on Mark Mulcahy's "All For the Best". The song was originally recorded by Mulcahy's band Miracle Legion during the late 80s driven by warm and jangling alt-rock guitars.
Dummy is the debut of English outfit, Portishead which won them the Mercury Prize in 1995. The album cover is a still image of vocalist Beth Gibbons taken from To Kill a Dead Man—the short film that the band created—for which the self-composed soundtrack earned the band its record contract.

Massive Attack’s "Girl I Love you" is based off of the original Horace Andy track of the same name, first released in 1973 on 7″ vinyl. When Horace Andy would perform "Girl I Love You" on the Heligoland tour in 2010, the LED screen would display current statistics and facts related to whatever country the band were performing in that night.

"Black Is the Colour (of My True Love's Hair)" is a traditional folk song first known in the Appalachian Mountains region of the United States in 1915, but most probably originating from Scotland, as attributed to the reference to the River Clyde in the song's lyrics. Nina Simone made it part of her standard repertoire and revitalized the song's popularity.

"Heroes" became the opening track of Scratch My Back according to Gabriel in an interview with The Quietus because "without any of the drive of guitar and drums...it builds an enormous tension that bursts open. If you’re going to reinterpret something, then really do something. Nail your colours to the mast and say, ‘This is different, and it isn’t everybody's cup of tea."
Seeds is the band's fifth LP and their first without bassist Gerard Smith, who died in 2011 from lung cancer. "For me, he's so in my consciousness whenever I'm doing almost anything creative," Adebimpe told Rolling Stone. "Anybody who's really close to you is not as accessible, at least on this plane, as they used to be – for me, it's like they've taken a seat on my board of directors. That person is always in the back of my head, saying, 'Are you serious? Are you really going to do that?' It's impossible for us to make a record without having him there. With me, he's a constant presence."

Elliott Smith’s classic 1997 album Either/Or will receive an expanded reissue for its 20th anniversary. Kill Rock Stars has shared a previously unreleased version of the rarity “I Figured You Out,” recorded in 1995.
“I remember this phrase from Black Francis from the Pixies,” said Garvey. “I interviewed him for a radio show 10 years ago in Lynchburg Tennessee. I was to talking to him about between him being Black Francis and Frank Black and all these different incarnations. I said ‘with all these different styles of music, where are you going next?’ He said something along the lines of ‘you have punk rock, you have rock, you have blues, you have soul, it’s all disco.”
