This double-CD documents a central aspect of the cultural environment of the Civil Rights Movement, acknowledging songs as the language that focused people's energy. These 43 tracks are a series of musical images, of a people in conversation about their determination to be free. Many of the songs were recorded live in mass meetings held in churches, where people from different life experiences, predominantly black, with a few white supporters, came together in a common struggle. www.folkways.si.edu

Chuck Prophet describes his new album ‘Bobby Fuller Died For Your Sins’ as a “California Noir,” an album inspired partly by the mysterious death of rocker Bobby Fuller in LA in 1966. The 13 tracks also include songs about the death of David Bowie, and the killing of San Francisco security guard Alex Nieto that drew international headlines as “Death By Gentrification.” Only Mr Prophet could make this sound upbeat!
"Destroyer" was initially planned to appear on the band's previous album, 'Low Budget' but was dropped because the band could not create a satisfactory mix.The lyrics are a continuation of The Kinks' 1970 hit song, "Lola" and borrows the main riff from The Kinks' 1964 song, "All Day and All of the Night", which was one of the band's first hits.
"Can I Sit Next To You" has been a bit of a mystery until now. For the past several months, bits of the song have been used as background music in various clubs and venues.
