Just two weeks before the 2008 Coachella festival, the organizers announced that Prince had joined the lineup. He played an 8 minute long version of Radiohead's "Creep". It popped up on YouTube the next morning but was quickly taken down as usual with most Prince internet content. Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke found this hysterical. "Really? He’s blocked it?” Yorke asked an interviewer. “Surely we should block it. Hang on a moment. Well, tell him to unblock it. It’s our song.” It was shortly unblocked.

James Murphy tells Clash about a designer who responded to Sound of Silver: "And he was just saying that "Your music makes me feel like I’m not alone. That I can talk to you and we would understand each other". And I thought that was as good of a compliment as I could get about making music that he could feel that there would be something to talk about. They would feel not by themselves, not isolated"

Happy Monday? Happy Monday. Happy Mondays! Blue Monday is a name given to a day in January (typically the third Monday of the month) claimed to be the most depressing day of the year. The concept was first publicized as part of a 2005 press release from Sky Travel, which claimed to have calculated the date using an equation. Good thing we have this song pull us out of that.

Playing Showbox SoDo on May 23rd! Jim Reid talked to the Guardian recently about the new record, “We’re driven by the same things that made us make music then. In 1985, there was a kind of frustration about the status quo in music. So it’s the same thing as what it was then but more … I hate to use the word mellow, but it’s a kind of mellow rage.”

David J will be hanging out on the Morning Show this Thursday! "As with every David Bowie album from ‘Hunky Dory’ on, I purchased ‘Blackstar’ on the day of it’s release. I was on tour at the time and had set aside the evening of Saturday, January 9 to immerse myself in it (post show) via headphones in the dark, dark basement of that night’s venue, an old house in suburban Seattle. The album blew me away. Once again Bowie had dared to dive into wild unchartered territory and it was thrilling to tag along. The following day I traveled by train to Portland having booked a recording session there on the Monday. That night David Bowie left the planet. In a state of shock I played the new album for the second time. Now with an entirely different perspective. Listening to it in that very weird, poignant and strangely exalted state I was struck by the notion that Bowie had created an incredibly complex and layered swan song and had, in effect, transformed his death into an astonishing work of art. By the time the final track came on I was weeping copiously. Those tears needed somewhere to go. They ended up in a song. One that simply poured out of me. I recorded it the next day."

The The released their first new single in 15 years on Record Store Day. “We Can’t Stop What’s Coming,” is a tribute to frontman Matt Johnson’s late brother Andrew, aka Andy Dog, who designed many of the band’s record sleeves and who passed away last year. The song features Johnny Marr on guitar and former The The members Zeke Manyika and James Eller on percussion and bass.

"I definitely feel like I'm a better songwriting than I was 15 years ago," Lanegan said in a statement. "I don't know if I'm just kidding myself or what, but it's definitely easier now to make something that is satisfying to me. Maybe I'm just easier on myself these days, but it's definitely not as painful a process, and therefore I feel I'm better at it now. But part of the way that I stay interested in making music is by collaborating with other people. When I see things through somebody else's perspective it's more exciting than if I'm left to my own devices."Gargoyle is also set to feature appearances from Josh Homme, Greg Dulli and Duke Garwood.
