Thom Yorke wrote this about how he felt after a show on their 1997 OK Computer tour. The show was in Birmingham, England, and when Yorke got off stage he went to the dressing room and felt completely burned out.
From Grizzly Bear's about 'Three Rings'... "Here’s a track from our new record. We feel like it’s a good introduction to the album, a good starting point, and we are proud of it. As you may know we’ve been working on this thing for a long time, after a long time away, and we are finally at the finish line. We’ve had a lot of fun making this one and we are excited to get back out into the world again and play some shows and all the rest!"
"The album explodes with “Roscoe,” a forceful, assured song, unmistakably the product of countless hours listening to Neil Young, but polished to a fine Fleetwood Mac sheen." Paste magazine recently named The Trials of Van Occupanther #45 on their top 100 indie folk albums list. www.pastemagazine.com

"Because it centers largely around vibes, you either submit to its spell or you don’t. There’s not much to pick apart here, and formalists may find themselves grasping at straws. But in her best tracks, there is a kind of magic at work—an emotional resonance that can’t be traced back to the rudiments of technology or arrangement." Courtney Barnett's new/old song, “How to Boil an Egg.” The track was recorded for Split Singles Club—a series run by Milk! Records (which Barnett co-founded with Jen Cloher) and Bedroom Suck. She said
"I used to perform this song at all the open-mics when I was 21. It never got recorded, so for personal-posterity I updated it and made this version recently when I was bunkered up in the bush doin some demos for my next album...I wanted to include a song of mine for Split Singles Club that was a tad left of album-centre. It’s a songwriting experiment that doesn’t really belong anywhere else. "
Barnett is working on a follow up to 2015's Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit with Kurt Vile.

Besides being the director of the Berklee Music Perception and Cognition Laboratory, and an associate professor at Berklee, Susan Rogers is also the person who worked most closely with the late Prince during quite possibly his most important period artistically. From 1983 to 1988, it was Susan who was on the other side of the glass for Purple Rain, Around the World in a Day, Parade, Sign o’ the Times, and The Black Album. Susan was kind enough to talk to KEXP producer, and Minneapolis native, Owen Murphy about her time working with Prince one year after his tragic passing. blog.kexp.org
This previously unreleased Prince track will be on the forthcoming Purple Rain reissue. The song, “Our Destiny/Roadhouse Garden,” splices together a pair that Prince often combined live. Listen below. “Our Destiny” features Lisa Coleman’s vocals, while “Roadhouse Garden” has Prince on lead vocals with Coleman and Dr. Fink backing. The songs were recorded at First Avenue in Minneapolis in 1984, on Prince’s 26th birthday.

Bandmates Hope Sandoval and David Roback have issued a statement regarding Mitchell’s death: “Our hearts are broken,” it reads. “We have lost the much beloved Keith Mitchell, a very talented and amazing drummer that we have had the privilege to work with for many years, he will live in all of our hearts forever.... We’ll miss you, Big Fella.”
The cover of Blonde On Blonde shows Dylan in front of a brick building, wearing a suede jacket and a black and white checkered scarf. The photographer, Jerry Schatzberg, described how the photo was taken:
I wanted to find an interesting location outside of the studio. We went to the west side, where the Chelsea art galleries are now. At the time it was the meat packing district of New York and I liked the look of it. It was freezing and we were very cold. The frame he chose for the cover is blurred and out of focus. Of course everyone was trying to interpret the meaning, saying it must represent getting high on an LSD trip. It was none of the above; we were just cold and the two of us were shivering. There were other images that were sharp and in focus but, to his credit, Dylan liked that photograph.
Nada Surf's new album, Peaceful Ghosts, includes aversion of Blonde On Blonde performed with the Babelsberg Film Orchestra. Find the full tracklist and links to order on their website www.nadasurf.com

This is often misinterpreted as a song celebrating personal freedom. It is actually a commentary on how people really want choices made for them. The song's statement is made in the last chorus, "Freedom of choice is what you've got, freedom from choice is what you want."
The video for "Come As You Are" was directed by Kevin Kerslake, who also did Nirvana's videos for "In Bloom" and "Sliver." According to Kerslake, Cobain didn't want to be in the video, as seeing himself on magazine covers was making him sick of himself. The record company, however, wanted their stars to be seen, so Kerslake shot them through water and used other devices to obscure their images.
Playing the Showbox August 24th but yesterday Mark Lanegan was the guest on Marc Maron’s latest episode of The WTF podcast: marklanegan.com
The song was written recorded at a time when the band was undergoing one of its numerous lineup changes and features only vocalist Robert Smith and former drummer Boris Smith. Smith felt that this state of flux may have been the creative spark for writing and recording the track: "The whole thing was turned around in like two days... I just the idea and we just recorded like me and him in the studio... very much like I did the Top album, actually, he just sort of jammed the drums and I was just playing along."

M83's Anthony Gonzales speaking to Pitchfork about Raconte-moi une histoire and Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, "When I was a kid, I had this cassette with someone telling these weird stories on it, and I was in love with it. My brother and I wrote the story for that song based on those cassettes. With that song, I wanted to start with something so ridiculous and basic and childish that then grows to something very touching and human. It's dangerous, but if you listen to it in the context of the album, it makes sense. There's always one song on my albums that people hate. I feel like that's going to be the case for this album, too."
Chastity Belt will be playing The Crocodile on Thursday, June 1st, 2017.
