Temple Of The Dog formed in 1990.It was conceived by vocalist Chris Cornell of Soundgarden as a tribute to his friend, the late Andrew Wood, lead singer of the bands Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam was a member of the band.
Pearl Jam formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1990. Since its inception, the band's line-up has comprised Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament. The band's fifth member is drummer Matt Cameron (also of Soundgarden), who has been with the band since 1998. This CD is from Cheryl Water's personal collection!
The new, deluxe, 25th edition of the 'Singles' soundtrack, has an entire extra disc of new material that includes Chris Cornell's 1992 EP Poncier and 14 tracks not included on the original soundtrack album, seven of which are previously unreleased tracks from Cornell, Mudhoney, Mick McCready (Pearl Jam), and Paul Westerberg. Significantly, although it featured tracks by Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam, and even Jimi Hendrix, the Singles soundtrack did not have a Nirvana tune.

In the late-1970s, Vince Clarke and schoolmate Andy Fletcher formed a short-lived band called No Romance in China. In 1980, he teamed up with Robert Marlow and Martin Gore to form French Look. Another band, named Composition of Sound, followed in 1980 with another addition of Martin Gore and Andy Fletcher. Clarke provided vocals until singer Dave Gahan joined the band, which was renamed Depeche Mode. And then after one album with Depeche Mode ('Speak & Spell), Clarke left the band to form, yes you guessed it, Yazoo (known as Yaz in the US)! Phew...I'm tired
Yaz broke up in 1983 and in early 1985, Clarke put an ad in Melody Maker for a singer, and one applicant was Andy Bell, who was a fan of his earlier projects. He teamed with Bell to form the group Erasure, and the duo became one of the major selling acts in British music with international hits like "Oh L'amour", "Sometimes", "Chains of Love", "A Little Respect", "Drama!", "Blue Savannah", "Chorus", "Love to Hate You", "Take a Chance on Me" and "Always".
how does this connect to Erasure? Remixed by Mr Vince Clarke, 'natch! Six degrees baby! #KEXP6Degrees
This cover by Franz Ferdinand is on the B-side of LCD Soundsystem's original version of "All My Friends"
Sparks was formed in Los Angeles in 1972 by brothers Ron (keyboards) and Russell Mael (vocals), they originally named their band Halfnelson, formed in 1968. Sparks were so adored by Smiths vocalist Morrissey in his younger days that he allegedly used to steal bits of the bread rolls they had for breakfast. The Mael brothers returned the favor with this song. Russell Mael told Q magazine: "The song is about a guy telling himself that if Morrissey would lighten up he would maybe stand a better chance with this girl (who was obsessed with him). We wanted to head any possible misunderstanding off at the pass and we got Morrissey a copy of it early on. He loved it and was apparently playing it before some of his shows."
Did we mention that Morrissey is a YUGE Sparks fan? The lyrics for this song are reportedly inspired by Nevil Shute's novel 'On the Beach', about a group of people waiting for the fallout cloud from a nuclear holocaust in Melbourne, Australia. C'mon Morrissey, lighten up!
Steven Street is one of the producers on this album and he also produced albums for The Smiths and...wait for it...Morrissey! #KEXP6Degrees

At a 2013 show, Chris Cornell got inventive with a mash-up of two famous songs with the same name: U2 and Metallica's respective hits titled "One." He sang Metallica's lyrics over U2's music, creating a mesmerizing acoustic performance that united two very different aesthetics.
Chris Cornell's U2/Metallica mashup leads us to this classic U2 album produced by Brian Eno on beautiful crackley vinyl. you love it, don't ya baby?
And Brian Eno also produced this album. Not only did he produce it, he also added bass guitar, keyboards, percussion, backing vocals, & vocal arrangements
And Eno co-wrote "Heroes" with David Bowie which was inspired by the sight of Bowie's producer / engineer Tony Visconti embracing his girlfriend by the Berlin Wall, the song tells the story of two lovers, one from East and one from West Berlin. Bowie's performance of "Heroes" on June 6, 1987 at the German Reichstag in West Berlin was considered a catalyst to the eventual fall of the Berlin Wall. Following Bowie's death in January 2016, the German government thanked Bowie for "helping to bring down the Wall", adding "you are now among Heroes"
Classic Bowie cover by local Seattle band Nirvana
Nirvana's cover of Devo's "Turnaround". Originally the B-side band's biggest hit, "Whip It" (as "Turn Around"), this headlong sneer was recorded for Nirvana's 1990 Peel session, and reappeared as the opening track of their Hormoaning tour EP. Dave Grohl was clearly having a blast channeling Devo drummer Alan Myers' "human metronome" technique, and Kurt gets to affect a clipped accent that's not too far off from what Carrie Brownstein would later adopt as her singing voice in Sleater-Kinney and Wild Flag. www.rollingstone.com
