Good morning Seattle, and welcome to our Amplifier Love Week all request day! This one is for Valerie, KEXP Amplifier for over a year now: "Love hearing such a variety of music from local & international artists, the djs' stories about the artists, tributes to artists, & of course no commercials."

For Teresa, a KEXP Amplifier for over four years: "I <3 KEXP! We're amplifiers for many reasons--the biggest is the diverse community of unique, welcoming, and open-minded people that KEXP has created and grows--we need more of this in the world. And then there's hearing about new songs and artists, and that is seems no matter what my day is--awesome, challenging, nutty--the djs are always playing what i need to hear. I picked Just Breathe, because its simply a beautiful song and with the world in the state its currently in, sometimes that's what we need to do to keep moving forward. Take a minute to pause the hustle-bustle. And remember all the reasons we are so lucky--loving family/friends, green trees and blooming flowers, a frolicking dog, swing sets, a job, free thought. Just breathe it in. And then, get back to fighting for all those amazing things! :) Thank you!"

John and Jenna, this one's for you! - "I totally, 100%, believe in and support truly independent radio and KEXP embodies that better than any radio station today. I love your commitment to local musicians and community and am honored to be an amplifier. Keep up the great work, KEXP!!!"

For Meggan, an Amplifier for over four years now: "I Amplify KEXP because it's a community I can count on. From the DJ's themselves that always seem to play just the right song in just the right moment of my day. The Gathering Space where my husband, daughter, and I spend every Sunday listening to Preachin' the Blues and drinking coffee. Events like Death and Music that bring complete strangers together to remember those we have lost. How could I not Amplify this community?!"
...
"When I moved here from Iowa in September of 2000, my first Saturday evening in Seattle was spent unpacking boxes in a rented room in Mount Baker. It was depressing as hell - I knew no one here, I didn't have a job, and was starting to doubt my decision to move; that is, until I found my radio and happened to tune into Audioasis on KCMU. It was like John Richards extended a hand through the speaker and welcomed me to my new hometown - I knew then and there that I found where I needed to be and that everything would be alright. KEXP has provided for me over the years, and now that I can, I give back. Thanks!" - Thank you Tobin!

"We’ve supported KEXP since 2001 and have been Amplifiers since the program began. Being an Amplifier makes sense for me since I don’t have to renew. But it really makes sense for KEXP – a steady stream of income without time consuming and costly fundraising. As an accountant, I really appreciate the cost saving aspects of the Amplifier program which makes me feel even better about my donation. Thanks for the call yesterday." - thank you for your support, Elizabeth and Patrick!

Mark from Easton, PA, thank you for your support! - "Per our exchanges over the years, my family and I think of the KEXP crew as part of our extended family. The passion with which all of you discuss music - and the daily ups and downs of life - touches many near and far. Add to that your accessibility - heck, I literally met you in a park in NYC and Cheryl (and Troy) helped my youngest out with a project years ago - and it makes KEXP a real force."

For Joel and Mari, Amplifiers for over four years: "When I followed my soon-to-be wife to Seattle from Dallas, TX in the summer of 2009, I had basically written off commercial radio - too many commercials, not enough quality music, stations played the same songs over and over. I stumbled upon KEXP within a month or two (probably curiosity from the yellow stickers on people's cars) and my wife and I became donors shortly thereafter. We love so many things about KEXP including the freedom the KEXP DJs have to play the music they want to, the community of donors around KEXP, and of course, the music!'

This one's for Anna in Brooklyn, starting her 9th year of being an Amplifier - "I'd like to request Where is my Mind from The Pixies...whenever I think I'm losing mine with the world these days, I can always count on tuning in and finding a place with like minded people who help me through the day....that day I found the station by chance here in Brooklyn was meant to be"

"This use to be John's Friday song years ago. It helped because I was at that point where the job just that and having a vodka soda with a lime was exactly what I'd rather be doing on Friday! I've since moved to Santa Fe, still stream KEXP most of the day, and love all that KEXP does for the music world." - thanks for the request, Jenn, and for amplifying KEXP the last four years!

"Good morning John and all at KEXP, Oh, thinking back to Live Aid … and what has happened in this world in the past three decades. Listening to KEXP in Wyoming, I’ve really clicked with Courtney Barnett and Kate Tempest the last couple of years. Today, I’m thinking of Kate’s lyrics as Britons go to the polls. I sure hope they can stop the hell that we’re living in this country. I am hopeful that testimony in D.C. will roast the Orange blighted potato and we can see a way forward. Thanks for keeping the music rolling so I can focus on that gift from KEXP instead the mess around us. Would you play something from Kate Tempest, so that I may scream along at the top of my lungs whilst I scrub walls in preparation to paint walls for a brighter day. Oh, and tell Cheryl thanks for the lovely amplifier love post card!" Thanks and let’s Thursday on..." - Here ya go, Justine! Rich, 4+ year Amplifier, this is for you! (Maybe delicate cycle that shirt?) - "I'm an aging punk/new wave guy in the Chicago suburbs, and when I first heard KEXP in 2005 the experience completely revitalized my love of music - both old, new and otherwise. I became an Amplifier because I felt so strongly about the passion and love of music that KEXP radiates that it seemed like a no-brainer to want to support that. Plus, I still cherish my black KEXP skull t-shirt - and will wear it until disintegrates...."

Oh hey! Our 8400 Amplifiers just became 8401! Calvin, thanks for joining the family this morning, here's The Replacements for ya: "I once donated 20 dollars to KEXP when I was still in school. I made a promise that once I had a full time job I would try and support more. Thanks to that high schoolers email it reminded me to stay true to that promise. Today I live and work in Minneapolis as a graphic designer and finally signed up to become an Amplifier. I feels so good! I listen almost everyday. Thanks for everything. I would love to hear something from the The Replacements. Love you guys!! "

For Cyndy, Amplifier for the last three years: "I love the unpredictability of KEXP, the flexibility of the DJs to respond to events, themselves, or whatever is moving them or the listeners that day. And I hate the limited play lists of commercial radio stations as well as the more commercials than music that seems to happen when the bottom line is more important than the intent of a music station. When I first became an Amplifier, it felt so good to be supporting something local, which is also so global. While I don't like everything that KEXP plays, the fact that there is such diversity is still exciting. For example, I still don't really like much in the rap/hip-hop genre but I do listen and have gained respect for an art form that is outside of my comfort zone, my "norms." So when my $20 a month gets deducted, I can smile about my "subscription" to something I truly enjoy. And besides, where else can I listen to goofballs such as John Richards and Troy Nelson? I mean, Troy is such a dork that he makes engineers like me look cool! :) (Troy, you are still my fave along with John!)"
