One of three piano compositions written by French composer and pianist Erik Satie.
Tiersem uses lots of interesting instruments and sounds in this music for the Amélie soundtrack: In addition to accordion and piano, it also uses harpsichord, banjo, bass guitar, vibraphone and ... yes - a bicycle wheel in "La Dispute", the opening track.

Cover of "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos" from Public Enemy's "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back." The song tells the story of a draft dodger who escapes prison. It uses a high-pitched piano sample from Isaac Hayes' "Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic". (Say that 3 times fast..)

Released back in 1991 on June 10th! TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek is a fan: "I've always tried to make a song that begins like "Kiss Them for Me". I think songs like "I Was a Lover" or "Wash the Day Away" came from that element of surprise mode where all of a sudden this giant drum comes in and you're like, what the f!(#?! That record was the first one where I was like, okay, even my friends're going to fall for this. I feel like that transition into that record was a relief for me. Really beautiful music was always considered too weird by the normal kids and that was the first example where I thought, we've got them, they're hooked! I watched people dance to that song, people who had never heard of any of the music that I listened to, they heard that music in a club and went crazy." 💯

Pixies cover! Heathen was released on this day (yesterday) back in 2012.
Fun facts: the riff for this song isn't actually a bass guitar (which the White Stripes had *never* previously used) -
it's the sound of Jack White's guitar being run through a whammy pedal set down an octave. The song's title comes from what White used to call The Salvation Army when he was a kid. #TheMoreYouKnow
