At the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival, Tom Hanks and Bruce Springsteen took the stage and discussed this song. Springsteen explained that Jonathan Demme (Director of Philadelphia), who died a few days before the festival, sent him the opening sequence of the film to give him a visual. "Eventually, I came up with that tiny little beat and I figured it wasn't what he wanted, but I sent it to him anyway," Springsteen said.
Tom Hanks added: "If you ever want to have a great moment in a motion picture, walk out a door and make sure they just put up a Bruce Springsteen song."

UNKLE leader James Lavelle: "For me, it is a personal dream come true," he said. "He (Lanegan) was meant to be on 'War Stories' and for various reasons at the time it didn’t work out. He’s one of my favourite singers ever and to work with him was just amazing."

Martin Gore recalled to Mojo magazine September 2012: "The original demo of Enjoy the Silence was very slow and minimal, just me and a harmonium, and Alan (Wilder) had this idea of putting a beat to it. We added the choir chords and (producer) Flood and Alan said, 'Why don't you play some guitar over the top?' That's when I came up with the riff. I think that's the only time in our history when we all looked at each other and said, 'I think this might be a hit.'"
Daniel Lanois co-produced The Joshua Tree along with Brian Eno. In an interview he spoke about working together: “Probably the greatest lesson I learned from Eno was to master just a few tools,” Lanois says. “It’s like, you’ve got your spade, your hammer, your spike, and your chisel. More conventional and less intelligent thinking would say, ‘Go to the music store, buy as much shit as you can, and don’t master any of it; just look for the available sundries and hang them around the room like a cheap decorator.’ That’s bad record production. Good record production is: master something, understand it, respect it, allow it to respect you, and then bring that to the table.”

Prince had never played Creep in concert before (or any other Radiohead songs for that matter), but across eight glorious minutes, he completely made it his own. It popped up on YouTube the next morning – with shots from many different angles – but the Prince camp had them all taken down. Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke found this hysterical. "Really? He’s blocked it?” York asked an interviewer. “Surely we should block it. Hang on a moment. Well, tell him to unblock it. Because we can. www.youtube.com A seminal period for Nirvana was their 1989 tour of Europe with their Sub Pop labelmates TAD. "School" was the first song in their set, and as Sup Pop co-founder Bruce Pavitt recalls, by the end of the tour Kurt Cobain would "look out in the audience and all he could see were the kind of people who used to beat him up at school."
It led to songs like "In Bloom" where Cobain was singing derisively about the very people who were enjoying his songs. It also showed just how exhausted and disenchanted Cobain had become even before Nevermind.
Even when covering one of classic rock’s most famous songs, most artists would show a degree of deference. But most artists aren’t Lemmy Kilmister, who heaped unequivocal praise on Motorhead‘s take on the Rolling Stones‘ “Sympathy for the Devil.”
“I thought we beat them,” he told USA Today. “I thought we beat it to death. I mean, I like the Stones’ version, but I like ours better.”
The single was re-issued again in April 2011 for Record Store Day in a white sleeve. This limited edition release (only 800 copies) plays at 33rpm. It features the New Order recordings of "Ceremony" (the pre-Gillian Gilbert take) and "In a Lonely Place" on one side, with the rare Joy Division recordings of the same tracks on the flip side.

There really is a Bruce Dickinson (besides the Iron Maiden lead singer), but he didn't produce "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" - that was David Lucas, who also brought us the General Electric "We bring good things to life" and the AT&T "Reach out and touch someone" jingles. Dickinson is an archivist who works on album reissues. He is credited as the reissue producer on a later version of the album, which apparently is how he was named in the sketch. More cowbell!
