New single from LA indie-rock up-and-comers Alyeska, an outtake from the band’s recent Crush EP. Their bio is great: When (singer) Alaska Reid has a vision, there's nothing that will stop her from seeing it through until the end. The 20-year-old singer was pushed and pulled in so many directions by the music industry—bigwigs trying to prime her into the next pop star or suggesting she sound more like Sheryl Crow—that she decided to self-release her debut EP, Crush, with her band, Alyeska. The eight-song collection showcases Reid's penchant for experimenting in the genre of pop, which was fortified by producer John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Dinosaur JR and Phosphorescent) behind the soundboard. The EP was one of the last albums recorded in the legendary Magic Shop studio, where Bowie laid down his final masterpiece, Blackstar, and Arcade Fire laid down The Suburbs.

"Chloe Dancer" is about lead singer Andy Wood's muse/fiancee, and "Crown of Thorns" was written about their breakup. “This song is about a relationship ruined by drugs,” she explains. “He wrote it about our near breakup, and how I tried to control him, and the drugs--hence his allusion to being tied to the ceiling."

Formed in 1994, Mad Season was made up of Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin and Walkabout bassist John Baker Saunders. This is from their performance with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra in 2015. The concert concluded with a surprise Temple of the Dog reunion as Cornell, McCready and Cameron were joined on stage by unannounced guests Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard.

Following the final orchestral crescendo, the song ends with one of the most famous final chords in music history. Overdubbed in place of the vocal experiment from 10 February, this chord was added during a session at EMI's Studio Two on 22 February. Lennon, McCartney, Starr and Evans shared three different pianos, with Martin on a harmonium, and all played an E-major chord simultaneously. The chord was made to ring out for over forty seconds by increasing the recording sound level as the vibration faded out. Towards the end of the chord the recording level was so high that listeners can hear the sounds of the studio, including rustling papers and a squeaking chair.

They've toured with the likes of The Lemon Twigs, Parquet Courts, and The Fall, and took inspiration for their band name from a classic sketch by the late great comedian Bill Hicks. Dave Grohl on the Reading performance: "“I really thought, ‘This will be a disaster, this will be the end of our career for sure,' Kurt had been in and out of rehab, communication in the band was beginning to be strained. Kurt was living in L.A., Krist and I were in Seattle. People weren’t even sure if we were going to show up. We rehearsed once, the night before, and it wasn’t good.” However ... “It turned out to be a wonderful show, and it healed us for a little while,” said Grohl.
