Speaking on the creative process behind this album, the band had this to say: "The societal insanity of 2016-17 was also deeply influential, as it must be for most artists these days. Looking back, there is quite a bit of chaos happening in these songs, and a pervasive dark field that we had little control over. The discussions surrounding women’s issues were a constant source of inspiration and questioning. Possum Kingdom apparently refers to a lake near The Toadies' hometown of Fort Worth, Texas. In a 1995 interview with RIP magazine, Toadies lead singer Todd Lewis, who wrote the song, said: "It's just a story I heard long ago; it's just a really cool, eerie lake, and some stuff I heard and some stuff I just make up. "Take Me With U" was initially intended to be credited to Apollonia 6 and it was included as the first track on an early configuration of the Apollonia 6 album, before being added to the final configuration of Purple Rain, compiled on 14 April 1984 (its inclusion made it necessary for Let's Go Crazy and Computer Blue to be shortened).
The recording used on both albums was the same (although edited for time restrictions on Purple Rain), and was always intended as a duet between Prince and Apollonia.

Released as a promotional single to promote "Rebound" from Sebadoh's Bakesale, what makes this CD especially significant is the inclusion of the rarity "Social Medicine" and acoustic renditions of other songs in the band's discography. The Rapture's 2002 single "House of Jealous Lovers" was produced by James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy of the DFA. Luke Jenner of the Rapture wasn't initially a fan: "I hated it for the first year it came out. It didn't sound finished. It didn't feel right to me." He eventually came around to it though. lat.ms
