Ted Hawkins (October 28, 1936 – January 1, 1995) was born in Biloxi, Mississippi and he spent his time between his adopted hometown of Venice Beach, California, where he was a mostly anonymous street performer, and Europe and Australia, where he was better known and well received in clubs and small concert halls.

Released on this date back in 1984, 'Ocean Rain' is the fourth studio album by Echo & the Bunnymen. It was an artistic change from the band as they moved away from their more rock oriented sound on their previous releases.
