This reimagining of Mazzy Star's 1993 track "So Tonight That I Might See" was included on their recent Still EP. In a 2011 interview, Billy Corgan had this to say on how "Snail" was conceived: "Snail's one of those songs, maybe in a different era would've been probably more of a pretty acoustic song. But we were hell-bent on sort of making really loud music. So it's this kind of, it's very influenced obviously by 60s psychedelia, the lyrics and all this flower, and snails, and sunshine and all this stuff. But we're trying to find this way of playing at a really high volume, so it's almost like playing electrified folk music or something."

When asked what exactly "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out" refers to in the documentary Wings for Wheels: The Making of Born to Run, Bruce Springsteen famously had this to say: "I still have no idea what it means. The song marked the E Street Band debut of longtime friend Stevie Van Zandt, who helped craft the horn arrangement before eventually earning a spot as guitarist in the band's lineup.

Supergroup alert! PEOPLE is an artist-led collective co-founded by Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and the National’s Aaron and Bryce Dessner. Today, the collective released this Leonard Cohen cover, featuring the National and Sufjan Stevens, amongst others. They write: "We recorded ... "Memories" from "Death of a Ladies' Man" as a wedding gift for Bryce and Pauline in August 2016. The process started with (producer) Thomas Bartlett establishing a foundation and circulated among all of us." The PEOPLE collective has also detailed an upcoming festival. Around 160 artists will gather in Berlin for a weeklong residency from August 12-20. bit.ly

Here's Ben Gibbard reflecting on the creative process behind "Such Great Heights": "I certainly have written things that I felt were beamed down to me from somewhere else. And they’re some of the best songs, I think, that I’ve written — some of the most well-known and appreciated songs I’ve written. Something like “I Will Follow You into the Dark” or “Such Great Heights” were songs that I wrote incredibly quickly. After weeks of banging my head against the wall trying to write songs, those songs, when I wrote them, seemingly came out of nowhere.
