This song is a cover of Miracle Legion’s song of the same name, written as a part of a compilation album for the group’s front-man, Mark Mulcahy. The idea was conceived after Mark’s wife died of undisclosed reasons in April, 2008, to help encourage him to continue his career as a musician. Thom also collaborates with his brother on this track.

Speaking with the bands Jonny Greenwood he said “I got very excited at the prospect of doing string parts that didn’t sound like ‘Eleanor Rigby’,” Greenwood told the Guardian, “which is what all string parts have sounded like for the past 30 years.”
Instead, Greenwood would take his cues from Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki – specifically, his 1960 piece, Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima. Radiohead’s sonic wizard emulated Penderecki’s ominous discord by having the 16 members of a string section play a quarter-note apart from each other. The resulting sound is unsettling.

One of Aretha's timeless tunes. This version gives you chills more than normal because she's paired with a Symphonic Orchestra!
Among the highlights of their full live orchestral disc is “Blonde on Blonde” which brims with a horn section accompaniment that no one ever knew that the song needed back in 2002.
Sigur Rós has always had an operatic streak to them, so it’s not surprising their music would work well with strings and brass. The standout track for me is “Ára Bátur,” which was recorded at London’s famous Abbey Road studio with the London Sinfonietta chamber orchestra and a choir. The strings and choir tip-toe into the background before taking over toward the end in a series of chordal swells that support, amplify, and develop the vocal melody. I dare you not to look wistfully into the distance when listening to this one
At the Under the Radar Festival in New York City earlier this month, a crowd of soon-to-be singers rehearsed "back ups" for David Bowie's "Heroes." After an hour, they were performing the song with David Byrne as a Choir! Choir! Choir! tribute to Bowie.

"Live and Let Die" is the main theme song of the 1973 James Bond film Live and Let Die, written by Paul and Linda McCartney and performed by Wings. It was the most successful Bond theme to that point, charting at No. 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 9 on the UK Singles Chart.
"Bitter Sweet Symphony" is a song by English alternative rock band The Verve. It is the lead track on their third studio album, Urban Hymns (1997). It is based on a sample it uses from the Andrew Loog Oldham orchestral cover of The Rolling Stones' song "The Last Time", and involved some legal controversy surrounding a plagiarism charge. As a result, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were added to the songwriting credits.
