Rick Valentin on the recording process for Poster Children's fourth album Junior Citizen: "I had read that when The Clash were in the studio, they would build a bunker out of guitar cases as a kind of clubhouse, so we set up a tent in one of the side rooms that only the band was allowed in. We could listen to music, hang out, write lyrics, take naps, etc. We had our computer set up along with us in the studio, and I remember watching Rose as she developed the “space boy” for the cover art. She was refining it and refining it, but something wasn’t quite right – the moment she added the pinwheels for eyes was priceless – we both started laughing and said, “That’s it!” Read the rest of the interview here: bit.ly

David Bowie to Vanity Fair in 2003 with a list of his favorite albums: "I have little time, and there are just too many to sort through. So, I’ll keep pulling stuff out blindly, and if it’s too obvious (Sgt. Pepper, Nirvana) I’ll put it back again till I find something more interesting." See the list here: bit.ly

Recorded by The Cure for John Peel's show on December 4, 1978
John Peel played "New Dawn Fades" on May 19, 1980 as a tribute to Ian Curtis the day after he died of suicide. On the one year anniversary of his death, he played it again without comment.
On the tombstone for John Peel is none other than the lyrics from "Teenage Kicks," the song he famously played twice in a row because "it doesn't get any better than this." bit.ly
Johnny Marr of The Smiths about this 1983 John Peel session: "What happened to us was that whenever a session came up, we wrote songs, because we needed them, especially for the session. 'This Charming Man', for example, was written because we had a John Peel session and we didn't have enough songs. The session was on a Friday, and on the Tuesday I just got out of bed and wrote this tune because we needed another song for the session." bbc.in
Released in 1983, and was distributed as a 7" and a cassette of their 1973 session on John Peel's show
PJ Harvey appeared on Peel's show multiple times over the years, with this one being recorded in 1992. He was quoted as saying: "It's a sad reflection on our times that the success of that will depend very much on what PJ Harvey looks like, even in 1991. If she looks suitably waif-like and in need of male protection, in the eyes of her beholders anyway, then it'll probably do very well. Either way, I have no idea what she looks like and I don't especially care, because I think it's a great record."

The U2 song that features not Bono, but Johnny Cash on vocals, which he recorded in Dublin for their Zooropa album in 1993
Johnny Cash died seven months after the release of the 2003 music video for his cover of Nine Inch Nails "Hurt." In 2004, Trent Reznor is quoted in an interview saying, "That song isn't mine anymore."
Nine Inch Nails is about to embark on a U.S. tour with The Jesus and Mary Chain, and it's NOT coming to Seattle and we are very sad. www.nin.com
