"“Holographic Jesus” is a song based around collecting holographic Jesus posters from various bodegas and dollar stores while living in Brooklyn,” says Medford of the song. “I am in no way religious but I hung them up all over my room and was constantly finding the nuances and idiosyncrasies of each one. You could turn your head the slightest and see an entirely different image reflected. I felt connected to that idea. Some people collect ceramic frogs or action figures but I collect holographic Jesus posters. This song is about the things I went through in that room while these posters were so to speak ‘watching over me.’”

“Lounge Act” – with its themes of jealously, insecurity, and overbearingness – was apparently about Kurt’s ex-girlfriend, Bikini Kill’s Tobi Vail. And according to producer Butch Vig, the song's title was because it sounded like a “lounge song” - but early lyrics in Cobain’s Journals also featured a line about “lounging in the sea.”
This song is OBVIOUSLY about osteoblasts, the cells that secrete the matrix for bone formation.
Citing the all-female North Korean state-propaganda musical group the Moranbong Band as inspiration, Grimes explains the song’s thematic bent in a statement: “Written from the perspective of a Pro-A.I. Girl Group Propaganda machine who use song, dance, sex and fashion to spread goodwill towards Artificial Intelligence (it’s coming whether you want it or not). Simply by listening to this song, the future General AI overlords will see that you’ve supported their message and be less likely to delete your offspring.”

Michelle Obama recently shared some details about just how difficult it was to get Prince to play at the White House: “We went back and forth trying to get Prince, because most of our personal parties revolved around birthdays — and Prince didn’t celebrate birthdays,” Obama said of the musician, who was a Jehovah’s Witness. “‘He was like, I can’t come but I want to come.’ We had to figure out how to create something that wasn’t a birthday.” Then, once Prince finally showed up for a White House performance, he kept the audience waiting: “For the first 15 minutes, he just let his band riff. They were just jamming before he even showed up.”
