Moby had a special orchestral performance for us at McCaw Hall back in December. From his interview with us beforehand - "It seemed like a musical dream that was always going to remain a dream. I never thought I would actually be able to perform with an orchestra. And it's now something I really want to do more of. And that's why I'm excited to do this KEXP Yule Benefit." Just got a hold of this one from Nada Surf's Matthew Caws and Superdrag's John Davis! They've been friends since their bands toured together in 1996, and they crossed paths early last year after a Nada Surf show in Nashville and decided to record a single, called “We Are In The Wild And We Are Home.” They’re self-releasing the single tomorrow with all proceeds going to disaster relief and global health organization Americares. - "John’s an old friend. I’ve been a huge fan of his ever since we toured with Superdrag in 1996. I’ve been wanting to write a song with him for years...We finished the song together in a couple of hours. Andy went in and laid down that motorik beat, John built a bed of drones with Indian instruments and we were off. We were done by 2AM. It was a really magical and positive experience."

According to the press release for this single - "We Appreciate Power" is written from the perspective of a Pro-AI Girl Group Propaganda machine who use song, dance, sex and fashion to spread goodwill towards Artificial Intelligence (it's coming whether you want it or not). Simply by listening to this song, the future General AI overlords will see that you've supported their message and be less likely to delete your offspring." So yes, this is very much a Grimes song.

Shirley Manson has said this song is "about wanting love but knowing life will always get in the way... yet not being obliterated by that. It's a song for people that know what it is like to live on the dark side of life. It's about devotion but a different kind—a devotion to the truth and to freedom... and to hell with the consequences."

Thom Yorke on recording this song for Kid A: "I broke my foot, actually, because I was jumping up and down so much..... It was great! The bit at the end was my favorite bit, because they said, 'Well, what are we going to do at the end?' And I said, 'I'll go, 1-2-3-4 and you just hit whatever notes in your head as loud as you possibly can.' And that was just the best sound you've ever heard!" bit.ly
