Good morning and happy Friday. Brian Eno produced this song and played the organ intro. The Edge did a D-chord delay arpeggio on his 4-track recorder at home to create the rest of the track.Bono revealed that he views the lyrics as unfinished: "Musically it's great and the band deserve credit for that, but lyrically it's just a sketch and I was going to go back and write it out."Bono said that Eno reassured him about the unfinished lyrics. "Brian said, 'Incomplete thoughts are generous because they allow the listener to finish them'," the frontman revealed. "As a songwriter I have to realise that the greatest invitation is an invocation."

"Neon Bible" was shaped by Win Butler’s childhood nightmares – and his realization that they were becoming a reality. “I have had these terrible dreams since I was a little kid that people are coming to get me and I have to run away,” Butler said, just before the album’s release. “There is always some weird government organization or unseen force which I don’t understand and there is this overwhelming sense of fear. I started to notice that these feelings that were so familiar to me in my dreams were starting to resonate with the climate I sense in the world. It is strange to recognize emotions that I feel when I am asleep at work in the real world.”

Even by Beck's standards, this song has some pretty odd lyrics ("She's got the lily-white cavity crazes, she's got a carburetor tied to the moon"). Speaking of Joy Division, this song is "an Orwellian nightmare: [Ian Curtis'] voice ringing out as if at a dystopian rally, trying to wake a population of people who’ve become mindless, all-obeying automatons. “Listen to the silence, let it ring on / Eyes, dark grey lenses frightened of the sun,” he howls. “And we would go on as though nothing was wrong / And hide from these days as we remained all alone.” :www.theguardian.com

The album "Songs from the Big Chair" takes its name from the 1976 American TV drama series "Sybil," in which the title character, suffering from psychiatric problems stemming from child abuse, seeks refuge in her therapist's "big chair." For those of you who missed it, Sybil was based on the controversial book about a woman who was supposed to have had 16 different personalities. Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith stated that they based this title choice solely on the concept that the songs on the album were so varied, that they all had different personalities all their own.

On the back of an enormous publicity campaign, Frankie Goes to Hollywood dominated British music in 1984. With a series of slogans, T-shirts, and homoerotic videos, the band caused enormous controversy in England and managed to create some sensations in the United States. Transforming the music video into magnificently dramatic cinema, director Daniel Wolfe has captured contemporary London in a shockingly addictive modern Slasher."
