Closing track off Elliott Smith's self-titled second album
Cover of the Radiohead song that Adams performed live on BBC Radio 2 in 2017. In his interview with BBC, he stated: "I wanted to do a couple of covers. And I know plenty, but I wanted to do something new that I hadn’t done before. So I went, what are two or three songs I could try to learn before I have to go to my first thing. And this was one. I don’t know if I’ve learned it in a great, new and interesting way, but I also thought it’s fitting, because there’s a pretty awful person who just got elected in the United States. So I don’t know why, but that song popped into my head this morning.” bit.ly

Happy 27th birthday to The Afghan Whigs third album Congregation, released on this day in 1992! Sub Pop co-founder Bruce Pavitt about this release: “The Congregation album at that time was kind of an expensive record. I remember ’91 was a very, very difficult time for the label. We laid off most of our staff. That August, we released Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge by Mudhoney, which wound up selling 100,000 copies, and that really revived the label. And then by Christmastime ’91, we realized that Geffen was going to send us a check for half a million bucks. So, right before Congregation came out, we knew we were back on our feet, but at the time Congregation was being recorded, we were totally broke. It’s a miracle we paid off that recording." The Stranglers bass player Jean-Jacques Burnel in a 2014 interview with The Guardian about an infamous fight they had: "In 1976, we played with the Ramones. In those days, [Clash bassist] Paul Simonon had a nervous tic: he used to spit on the ground. He did this just as we came off stage at Dingwalls in London, so I thumped him and it all kicked off. We were thrown out by the bouncers and it continued in the courtyard. On one side were the Pistols, the Clash, the Ramones and a load of their journalist friends. On the other side was us, a few of our fans and me, nose to nose with Paul. Dave [Greenfield, Stranglers keyboards] had John Lydon up against the ice-cream van." bit.ly
Straight from Sir Babygirl's artist bio: "Sir Babygirl quickly swapped diploma for a microphone to explore Chicago’s DIY and comedy scenes, but was ultimately visited in a dream by pop princesses Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and dear departed high priestess Whitney Houston. The three divinities implored: pop was the pure plastic expression and cartoon catharsis for which Sir Babygirl was meant." Find out more about this musical project from Kelsie Hogue here: bit.ly

Happy 63rd birthday to Public Image Ltd and Sex Pistols frontman, John Lydon! He told The Stranger in 2015 about the song "Seattle": "It's a great song. The subject is about rioting, really, and when you see them World Trade Organization riots, it's kind of appropriate. It's an homage to Seattle, a town that's never done us any harm. A town we feel quite warm about... great atmosphere, the gigs are always amazing. It feels like home to me." bit.ly
