The next day I wrote the song I ended up calling ‘Gallipoli’ entirely in one sitting, pausing only to eat." Beirut will be at the Paramount on February 27th, find ticket information here: bit.ly

"Opening with one of Hook’s most infectious twangy riffs, and powering forth on Morris’s kinetic drumming, this is the sound of New Order throwing back the curtains and letting the sun come in. When John Peel first played it, he singled out Sumner’s two-note guitar motif at 4’14” as the song’s most sublime moment – playing the five-second burst over and over – but the entire song is New Order playing pop music at its most headrushing, joyful and flawless." bit.ly

Neon Indian has written and directed a new short film called 86’d. "The film follows a young man and his trip, literally and figuratively, after he does some drugs and heads to the deli for a late night sandwich. Then the camera pans to each of the groups in the deli and we hear their stories, which are all random and pretty crazy in their own right. The main character’s trip manages to find its way to create a climax right at the end." bit.ly

Between its foundation in 1981 and its dissolution seven years later, Minimal Compact played a crucial role in the European rock scene. Malka Spigel (bass, vocals), Samy Birnbach (vocals, texts) and Berry Sakharof (guitars, keyboards, vocals) left their native Tel-Aviv in 1981 for Amsterdam in search of an escape from the provincial attitudes of their own city. Of the trio, only Berry was a "real" musician. Malka was "learning to play the bass", while Samy was better known as a DJ and a music fan who dabbled in poetry . They recorded a 2-song demo at home, and consequently become one of the very first artists signed to the Belgian Crammed label.
