Vedder's songs help narrate the story of American wanderer Christopher McCandless. After graduating as a top student from Emory University, he decides to give up all of his money and travel. During forays into the Western United States and Mexico, McCandless decides to hitchhike to Alaska to live in the wilderness with little food and equipment, hoping to live a period of solitude. Nearly five months later, he died of starvation near Denali National Park and Preserve. Vedder said that he "realized the songs could now become another tool in the storytelling." On writing the songs about McCandless, Vedder stated, "It was startling how easy it was for me to get into his head. I found it to be uncomfortable how easy it was, because I thought I'd grown up."

Noel Gallagher got the title when he misheard the name of the Pixies album Bossanova. He was watching a documentary about champagne at the time.
Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me was released on 25 May 1987. Though a double album, it was released as a single CD, and single cassette. One track, "Hey You!!!", was omitted from the original CD release to fit the album on one disc, but was included on all cassette releases.
The song made a big impression on Kurt Cobain. He said in 1992, "I wish Kim was allowed to write more songs for the Pixies, because 'Gigantic' is the best Pixies song and Kim wrote it."
Kim Deal reacted modestly to NME, "Well, it's better than somebody saying, 'Oh God, you suck.'"

Every great partnership has to begin somewhere. For Karen O and Danger Mouse, it was a drunk dial in 2008.
At least, that’s how half of this duo featuring the queen of the aughts rock revival and the versatile Grammy-winning producer remembers it. Karen O drew a blank when Danger Mouse (born Brian Burton) brought it up late last month at Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village, where they worked on their new album, “Lux Prima.”
“I got this phone call, and you were like, it’s Karen O. I was like, what?” Burton said. His flummoxed collaborator at the other end of the couch slowly recalled what had happened: After years of saying they wanted to work together but only meeting briefly, Karen O had seized the moment.
“I get excited about things after a couple of drinks — then I’m like, yeah, I’m going to call him now!” she said.

Ray Davies wrote a stage musical based on this song called Come Dancing that was performed in London in 2008.
In a letter accompanying the initial album announcement, Zach Condon revealed that the new music is inspired by an experience he had in Italy: “We stumbled into a medieval-fortressed island town of Gallipoli one night and followed a brass band procession fronted by priests carrying a statue of the town’s saint through the winding narrow streets behind what seemed like the entire town, before returning late to Sudestudio.” There’s a medieval vibe in almost all of Condon’s music with Beirut, but it’s especially clear in singles like “Landslide.”
Leonard Cohen played guitar in a country and western band called the Buckskin Boys as a teenager. In 1966, Cohen set out for Nashville, where he hoped to become a country songwriter, but instead got caught up in New York City's folk scene.

The album was recorded in a windowless studio that Bush had constructed in a converted barn near her parents' house in semi-rural East Wickham, south east of London. Kate Bush (from Q magazine): "People commented on how the album seems very elemental. And I can't help but put quite a lot of that down to the fact that I moved out into the country. The visual stimulus coming in was that of fields and trees, and seeing the elements doing their stuff."
The cover of the album depicts Harvey topless and swinging her drenched hair into the air. The photo was captured by Harvey's friend and photographer Maria Mochnacz, and was taken in Mochnacz's bathroom. Due to the small size of the room, she had to place her camera against the wall opposite Harvey and couldn’t look through the camera's viewfinder. The photo was taken in total darkness and only illuminated by the split-second flash.

Critics accused the group of glorifying the gangsta lifestyle, but Ice Cube insists they are merely documentarians. He told the Sunday Correspondent Magazine in 1989: "The parents, the police and the people of the local community are scared of what we say. We use the same kind of language as the kids use every day. In the black community, the ministers and teachers don't deny that the problems we rap about exist, but they'd rather sweep it under the rug. Maybe that's why we sell so many records because the people in the community all tell the kids what to do, the police are watching them 24-7, so when they party, they don't want to hear, 'Don't do this and don't do that.' Our raps are documentary. We don't take sides."

Frontman Win Butler about this song:
"There’s sort of an everything-nowness to life. I feel like almost every event and everything that happens surrounds you on all sides. Some of it is fake and some of it is real and some of it is trying to sell you something and some of it is profound. Every moment of everything refracts into a thousand different things. It’s trying to capture some of the experiences of being alive now in all its flaws and all its glory.
I remember being in a cafe once and I was overhearing this woman talking about watching The Sopranos and they had just finished watching The Sopranos, like they kind of binge-watched The Sopranos over a weekend. One of them was saying, 'Oh, it’s so annoying that there’s no more Sopranos. I guess I’m gonna have to find something else to watch.' This was maybe six years ago–five years ago and it just hit me that this thing that took ten years to make someone watched in a weekend and was annoyed there wasn’t more. I was like whoa; I feel like culturally the moment and this kind of era that we’ve entered into of kind of everything-nowness has positive and negative sides to it but it’s definitely a new way of being."

Star Slinger, aka Darren, from his website: "This project was born from a love of making connections. From the alias down to the songs, to my mixing style – its all based on connections. I used to listen to multiple genres as kid and notice similarities in the melodies of different genres and wonder why someone had not thought to combine them to make something twice as great. It turns out the people who inspired me to make music also made the same types of connections and associations. Kanye West, J Dilla, The Avalanches, Armand Van Helden, Kenny Dope, Brian Eno, Aphex Twin to name a few.
I have come to realise that this profound love of connecting styles, meanings, genres, images, associations, etc etc is at the core of what Star Slinger was and is still about."

“I wanted to push everything to the limit with this record and explore new territory for Maps,” he says in a statement. “The orchestral instrumentation and addition of other musicians and singers played a huge part in finding the purer and more human emotion I was searching for. I learnt the violin as I was growing up, so I’m glad it finally came in useful!”
Unkle's new album, The Road, Part II is out Friday. You can still pre-order on a sweet triple-colour LP set: store.unkle.info
The song was written recorded at a time when the band was undergoing one of its numerous lineup changes and features only vocalist Robert Smith and former drummer Boris Smith. Smith felt that this state of flux may have been the creative spark for writing and recording the track: "The whole thing was turned around in like two days... I just the idea and we just recorded like me and him in the studio... very much like I did the Top album, actually, he just sort of jammed the drums and I was just playing along."
You can hear Portland band Darkswoon as part of the Seagaze Festival at the Lo-Fi Performance Gallery on Sunday, April 28th, 2019.
