Brand new from the Chemical Brothers! During recording, The Chemical Brothers built a “studio within a studio”, containing all their old vintage/analogue gear, which had been gathering dust since the 1990s. The idea was that by making music how they used to, they’d rekindle some of the old inspiration and then tweak it for 2019 with the larger studio’s modern tech, which is pretty much how No Geography sounds.

The song uses a recurring Australian problem (drought) to pose the question "What for?", meaning "why did Europeans bother to colonize this harsh place". The song mentions two prominent indigenous Australians (Truganini and Albert Namatjira) whose lives were altered by European settlement and discusses current day sentiment towards the old country, namely the monarchy.

"Everyone was trapped in what would have been hellish conditions, but everybody pulled together and helped each other. The hippies, the freaks, the artists and musicians all walked the walk, putting into practice what the peace movement was all about: Loving each other and leaving no one behind. Sly And The Family Stone understood this idealism. The band went on at 3am Sunday morning and amazed the crowd with electrifying versions of 'Dance to the Music' and 'I Want To Take You Higher.' Sly And The Family Stone were a mix, in gender and interracial, and they personified a dream the hippies had for the future of the country. Their music crossed boundaries too. At the time, soul and rock were pretty well divided, but Sly and crew mixed the genres together with such love and enthusiasm, they made it seem natural, in their sound and their lyrics."
