"Lyrically, the song could be about society or NIN's fans, but Trent Reznor has stated in the interview titled Disturbed that the "pigs" in this song refer mainly to "anywhere from the media to people he thought were friends around him." Furthermore, he said, "The issue I was addressing was... when we attained a certain level of success, it was surprising to see the legion of people starting to fuck with you, can't wait to see you fail, hoping that you'll fuck up, ripping you off, trying to use you... The fact that American media, in 'underground world,' you go from being the darling to 'well, we accidentally started selling some records,' so they have to turn their backs on us." He also occasionally referred to fans as 'pigs' at live performances." bit.ly

Girl Band will be releasing their new album later this month. The band has shared the lead single “Shoulderblades” along with a video. Stereogum says 'This one is a return to their all-consuming form, and its gnarly, acetic underbelly makes most other “indie” rock feel like child’s play. It’s noisy and pulsating — at times heavy on the psyche as there’s a palpable battle for space occupation. It opens with a vacillating atmosphere, and shrieking guitars seem go in and out of focus around the lyrics. As the drums kick in, lead singer Dara Kiely eerily screams, only adding to the push and pull felt with the lack of melodic consistency." Read the full article and watch the video here: bit.ly

Toadies released their first studio album, Rubberneck in August 1994. This song's origins lie in folklore from the band's native state of Texas. Possum Kingdom Lake is a lake in North Texas near Fort Worth. In the documentary "Dark Secrets: The Stories of Rubberneck", Lewis further elaborates that he intended "Possum Kingdom" to be a continuation of the story told in the song "I Burn". While he envisioned "I Burn" to be a story about cult members immolating themselves in order to ascend to a higher plane, "Possum Kingdom" was about one of the immolated people becoming "just smoke, and ...he goes to Possum Kingdom [Lake] and tries to find somebody to join him." bit.ly

From Brooklyn, New York, Vivian Girls took their name from a book by Henry Darger. The band reunited to put out this album, coming out later this month. "While a reunion record titled Memory may conjure images of a band waxing nostalgic about the halcyon days of yore, Vivian Girls’ newest record is anything but a pleasant reminiscence. The latent darkness that always haunted their records is on full display upon their return. Vivian Girls are back and they haven’t forgotten what they went through." viviangirlsnyc.bandcamp.com

"The Berries’ sophomore full-length feels like something of an oddity in 2019. It’s an unabashed love letter to decades of guitar music that manages to sound fresh, it’s got Americana sway and Brit rock swagger. It’s an album preoccupied with the state of the world that never strays from the realm of personal; it explores the pull of extremes in an effort to find balance;and it doesn’t surrender to nihilism nor pander to hopefulness. It’s Berryland, and it rocks." theberrieswa.bandcamp.com

What is today? September 4th. 9/4. 94. Guess what came out in 1994? Sugar released their second and final album File Under: Easy Listening in 1994. Primary songwriter Bob Mould discussed material written after Beaster in 1993: "It's pretty punk rock. Not real fast, just pretty basic. A lot of it's really vocal-y. Really beautiful and really harmonic, but it's real piledriving… Weird chord changes underneath real traditional vocal lines. So I think it'll be somewhere between these last two records. Also, I'm really starting to hate guitar solos, so I'm trying to avoid them. I'm bending a lot of strings, starting to sound like Johnny Thunders again."
