"From ancient Lesbos to ’60s SoHo, drag balls to Paradise Garage, queer havens aren’t just shelters created in opposition to the wider world, but hives of imagination and creativity where alternate realities reign, even if they sometimes dissolve at dawn. Perfume Genius’ fourth album, No Shape, is one of them." Read more here: pitchfork.com

Wilco's Jeff Tweedy describes the song as “a warning to myself that YES, Love IS EVERYWHERE, but also BEWARE! I can’t let that feeling absolve me of my duty to create more.. I’m starting to feel like being confident in that equation isn’t always the best motivation for me to be my best self—it can kind of let me off the hook a little bit when I think I should be striving to contribute more love outside of my comfortable sphere of family and friends." wilcoworld.net

Joe Strummer on how the creative process that made this track: "I'd written the lyrics staying up all night at the Iroquois Hotel. I went down to Electric Lady and I just put the vocal down on tape, we finished about twenty to midnight. We took the E train from the Village up to Times Square. I'll never forget coming out of the subway exit, just before midnight, into a hundred billion people, and I knew we had just done something really great."

“I’ve known everyone in the band for ten years plus separately and together as DIIV for at least the past five years,” says lead singer Zachary Cole. “On Deceiver, I’m talking about working for the relationships in my life, repairing them, and accepting responsibility for the places I’ve failed them. I had to re-approach the band. It wasn’t restarting from a clean slate, but it was a new beginning. It took time—as it did with everybody else in my life—but we all grew together and learned how to communicate and collaborate.” diivct.bandcamp.com

"'White Noise White Heat' is a motorik, metallic soul-blast, soaked in rage and doubt over the artist's role in documenting genuine tragedy, following London's 2017 Grenfell Tower fire. Guy stresses that this is not a song about Grenfell but rather his reaction. After 20 years of living his life in public through his lyrics and believing that music can be a positive force, this was the moment of true artistic self-doubt." elbow.co.uk
