The covers of the United States and Canada issues of The Lion and the Cobra differed from the European release, as it was decided a more subdued pose would present a "softer" image of O'Connor. This, of course, was a really dumb idea.
Speaking of terrible ideas from record exec's, Representatives at her label, EMI (cue Sex Pistols song) were hesitant to release this AMAZING song with its original title of "A Deal with God" owing to possible negative reception because of its use of the word "God". Bush relented and changed the title. However, the album version of the song is listed as "Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)". And now we are all dumber.
Harvey told Q in 2001, "I wanted everything to sound as beautiful as possible. Having experimented with some dreadful sounds on Is This Desire? and To Bring You My Love - where I was really looking for dark, unsettling, nauseous-making sounds - Stories From The City... was the reaction. I thought, No, I want absolute beauty. I want this album to sing and fly and be full of reverb and lush layers of melody. I want it to be my beautiful, sumptuous, lovely piece of work."
“I pretty much sang the whole thing in one go. Oh, it’s so sad, isn’t it? Usually I’m a mess when I sing it, I cry every time. It’s actually really nice crying on stage. I always know it’s coming.”
As a teenager, Polachek began traveling to the NYC from her home in Connecticut to attend concerts, which were a mix of post-hardcore emo, DIY punk and jazz shows. Mike Patton (Faith No More) once personally walked her into a show at Knitting Factory when her fake ID was rejected.

We received a request for this song, and we cannot lie...we wondered how it could POSSIBLY meet the standard set by the original, which is metal CLASSIC. Well, wow, isn't this wonderful. In 2015, Novo Amor (aka Welsh singer Ali Lacey) completely remade Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle.”.
"I wanted to rework this hugely powerful song to a point where it was nearly unrecognizable, giving me the chance to really make it my own. I’ve gone for a complete juxtaposition from the original, once combined with the video I think it creates something quite beautiful and striking."

According to the Stain Removal Guide by The American Cleaning Institute (ACI), the best way to remove a stain is to "(p)retreat it with a liquid laundry detergent, using an up-and-down motion with a soft brush to break up the stain. Rinse well. Sponge with white vinegar and rinse again. Repeat, treating the stain with liquid detergent, then with white vinegar until you've removed as much stain as possible."
Porcelain Raft is Mauro Remiddi reportedly began experimenting with music when he was ten years old, playing his grandmother's piano and making make-believe radio programs on a small tape-recorder.[6] He began touring around Italy when he was 20, playing accordion with a klezmer trio.

Richard Butler had a specific audience in mind when he penned the lyrics to this song. He explained this in an interview with Creem in 1983: "It's basically addressed to people who are (messed) up about their sexuality, and says 'Don't worry about it.' And yes, that is Todd Rundgren on marimba, as one does. Ahem. He produced the album.

The Go-Go's were supporting The Specials on the latter's 1980 United States tour. According to Wiedlin, she and Specials singer Terry Hall had a brief affair despite his having a girlfriend back in England and this led to their co-writing the song.
“This record is very personal, but at the same time, we’re all coming from the same place of a general sense of anxiety,” drummer Arlen Thompson says. “How do you deal with the constant barrage of having your opinions swayed by all these different actors when you don’t know who they are or what their purpose is? There is no normal anymore.”
Frontman James Alexander Graham had this to say about "VTr" in a press release: "As I was walking my wife into the hospital as she was going into labor with our son, I looked down at the pavement and spray painted there was 'VTR.' I think the line 'there's no love too small' is one of the most hopeful I've ever written - seeing that song title on the ground as I was entering the hospital to have the most life-affirming moment in my life blew my mind.
In 1982, Bono was battling writers block and felt it was lonely writing lyrics, so he asked the Edge to assist in writing. He wrote the line "It takes a second to say goodbye". Bono wrote the remainder of the lyrics.
“The last album came from an introspective place and felt like therapy, I guess,” Kiwanuka said in a statement. “This one is more about feeling comfortable in who I am and asking what I want to say. Like, how could I be bold and challenge myself and the listener? It is about self-acceptance in a more triumphant rather than melancholy way. It’s an album that explores what it means to be a human being today.

“The robots are smarter than ever, and the algorithm knows more and more what we like as individuals,” said the band in a press release. “We have to remind ourselves that there is music in the margins that can go missing and that that music is more important than ever.”
Upon release as a single, "Never Enough" topped the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart for three weeks, and reached number 13 in the United Kingdom. But only #28 in Belgium. Thanks a lot Belgium.
