This is not the song John had planned. So you know, before he hit this, he yelled "Omaha." Why Omaha you ask? Well...
...it was what NFL QB Peyton Manning would yell when changing a play.
"Omaha was just a indicator word," Manning explained from the Las Vegas event. "It was a trigger word that meant we had changed the play, there was low time on the clock and the ball needed to be snapped right now to kind of let my offensive lineman know that 'Hey, we'd gone to Plan B, there's low time on the clock.' It's a rhythmic three-syllable word, 'O-ma-ha, set hut.'"
Boom. Mystery solved.
55's the mic! 55's the mic! 319, 319. HUT. HUT. Omaha, OMAHA!
Marking the first new material to emerge from the Scottish band in two years, the new cut features lyrics written by guitarist Barry Burns’ seven-year-old daughter after he experienced a bout of writers’ block. The release of "God Gets You Back" comes alongside news of an extensive 2025 tour by Mogwai, which will see them travel through the UK and Europe through February, before playing four dates in Asia in March, and a further run of North America gigs in April and early May. tinyurl.com

This song describes the fate of the city of Pompeii, buried during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
In 2016, Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis was offered the opportunity of a lifetime: a two-day session working with the great drummer Tony Allen. This collaboration began in 2016 but the recordings were never completed before Tony passed away in April 2020 at the age of 79. Now, they are finished and a five-track EP was released on August 30th. yannistheyaw.bandcamp.com
Saw James last night here in Chicago supporting Johnny Marr. The band was in great form and brought down the house with Getting Away With It All Messed Up.
Any James this morning would be an extra treat.
You’re the best!

Loving this mix! Got a hankering for Dramamine, either Middle Kids or Modest Mouse. Could also go for Motion Sickness by Phoebe Bridgers, come to think of it!

"The “yéyé noir” of Juniore has always been rooted in the cinematic as much as the musical. The Paris outfit feels as intertwined with big screen aesthetics as greatly as it does being found in the grooves. "

Wham! Bam! My cat, Splash
Is rolling around on my bed
He swallowed his tongue as he drank all my whisky
As for me, I've hardly slept, I feel empty and reprimanded
I had to sleep in the gutter
Where I had a flash of inspiration

Cult guitarist Billy Duffy on the song's introduction: "I found a violin bow, and I started to play the guitar with the bow like Jimmie Page. I did it to amuse (Ian) Atsbury, who was in the control room, and in order to make it sound weirder, I just hit every pedal I had on the pedal board... The producer went, “Hold it, hold it, that’s great!” - tinyurl.com
