A "classic" recording by Beastie Boys... Rachmaninoff's "Prelude C-sharp Minor," sampled from a recording by Les Baxter played on a synthesizer, is blended into the verses. The piece of classical music at the beginning of the song is "Night on Bald Mountain" by Modest Mussorgsky. Also sampled is "Love is Blue" by The Jazz Crusaders. This won a Grammy in 1999 for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

Young men were dying in the freezing waters of the South Atlantic, while I was gazing at the sunspots on the clifftop overlooking the Caribbean."
During this time, he read a lot about psychologist Carl Jung and became a believer in the concept of synchronicity -- the theory that seemingly coincidental events are connected through their meaning.

The record was released under the alias MARRS, an acronym derived from the forenames of the five 4AD artists involved in the project: Martyn Young (from Colourbox), Alex Ayuli and Rudy Tambala (from A.R. Kane), Russell Smith (an associate A.R. Kane member and founder of Terminal Cheesecake), and Steven Young (from Colourbox).
This song includes audio clips from Mission Control in Houston when Apollo 8 becomes the first manned voyage to orbit the moon and they are on “the other side” and lose radio contact. The tension midway through the track is palpable bringing to life this historic moment in space travel and then erupting back into a solid composition of electronic driven beats in celebration of Apollo 8’s success. -- They're wearing ties!
