Fontaines D.C. is on tour! - Seattle, WA (Showbox SoDo), Friday, Sept. 20 - Portland (Roseland Theater), Saturday, Sept. 21 - Vancouver BC (Commodore Ballroom), Sunday, Sept. 22 -- "In the Modern World" by Fontaines D.C. captures a melancholic yet hopeful reflection on modern life, with the band's post-punk sound taking on a more atmospheric, reflective tone. The lyrics explore disillusionment and a longing for connection amid the chaos. It’s a song that feels both lost and comforting, understanding the confusion of our times. The album as a whole mirrors this with raw emotions, poetic lyrics, and a gritty yet dreamy sound—perfect for when you're overthinking and need to get lost in something. fontainesdc.bandcamp.com

This album was produced by Jack White, he was born on this day in 1975 -- Loretta Lynn had written the music and lyrics to "Portland Oregon" years prior to its recording date. After writing the song, Lynn did not record it for many years until meeting rock artist Jack White. While having dinner at Lynn's house, White came across a pile of handwritten songs, "Portland, Oregon" among them. It was decided that she would record the tune as a duet for her 2004 album Van Lear Rose, which Jack White also produced. On CMT, Jack White said this song was never planned as a duet. "She insisted [on it]. I said, 'All right, let’s do 'Portland, Oregon' together, and we’ll talk to each other at the bar." Watch them performing it on The Late Show with David Letterman here: bit.ly

Today, we honor Jimi Hendrix and his timeless contribution to music along with the anniversary of the release of soundtrack 'Singles.' His track "May This Be Love" continues to captivate many with its soulful depth and Hendrix’s unparalleled guitar mastery. A true icon whose influence still resonates deeply in the world of music. www.youtube.com -- On this day, Jimi Hendrix was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Mary Abbot's Hospital in London at the age of 27 after choking on his own vomit. Hendrix left the message 'I need help bad man', on his manager's answer phone earlier that night. Rumors and conspiracy theories grew up around Hendrix’s death. Eric Burdon claimed Jimi had committed suicide, but that’s contradicted by reports that he was in a good frame of mind. In 2009, a former Animals roadie published a book claiming that Jimi’s manager had admitted to him that he arranged the murder of Hendrix, since the guitarist wanted out of his contract. Hendrix is one of many famous musicians who died at age 27 - Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse.

This is the opening song from Liz Phair's swaggering debut album. "The songs on Exile in Guyville view life in the patriarchy through the eyes of a heterosexual young woman with a subversive streak who, in addition to experiencing the endless communication problems that afflict many intimate relationships, happens to find herself mixed up in the male-dominated indie scene in early ’90s Chicago (referred to as 'Guyville' in a song by Urge Overkill), and by extension, the male-dominated music industry. "Because all industries are male-dominated**, from tech to fashion to construction to porn, the experiences described and feelings expressed in Exile in Guyville are pretty much universal.
