Mercury Rev are less than a month away from releasing their first album in nearly 10-years and have just shared a new song “A Bird Of No Address.”

"Northern Town" started life with a different title. Laird-Clowes told Mojo that he had befriended Paul Simon at one point and the two stayed in touch. He recalled: "I played him the song and he asked, 'What are you going to call it - 'Ah Hey Ma Ma Ma?' I told him that we intended to name it 'Morning Lasted All Day.' 'That's no good,' he said and so I came up with 'Life In A Northern Town.' which he thought was a great title."

Hey morning show folks,
After her elderly Honda gave up the ghost, I’ve been driving my 18 year old (soon to be college bound) daughter to work this summer. KEXP has been our soundtrack, and an awesome way to connect during the commute.
This morning’s combo of Joy Divison/Cure/Cocteau Twins/Simon and Garfunkel hit me, as those bands were central to my high school and college experiences. I got a little verklempt as they played and my daughter, who is soon to start a new phase of her life, sat beside me. She noticed my emotions and we had a good chat about family, friendships, and how relationships change and grow over time. Now, when I hear those songs, I’ll think both of my younger self and my awesome kiddo, on the cusp.
If possible, could you please play one of our family favorites: TV on the Radio or Janelle Monae?

The Passengers were a collaboration between U2 and Brian Eno. U2 considered it a side project, so they used a different name. The song is about how the people of Sarajevo deal with war. Proceeds from the single went to the War Child charity.

The original title was "The Devil Is My Name." Said Jagger: "Songs can metamorphasize, and 'Sympathy For The Devil' is one of those songs that started off like one thing, I wrote it one way and then we started the change the rhythm. And then it became completely different. And then it got very exciting. It started off as a folk song and then became a samba. A good song can become anything. It's got lots of historical references and lots of poetry."
