"The Lion and The Cobra" was Sinéad O'Connor's debut album. The title of the album is from Psalm 91:13 "you will tread upon the lion and cobra." When she was young, a nun gave Sinéad a guitar. She would perform on the streets of Dublin. Eventually she was playing with a band and caught the attention of record execs. She released this album in 1987 and co-produced it as well.

On this day in 1976, The Sex Pistols appeared at The Lesser Free Trade Hall, Manchester, England. The now legendary night is regarded as a catalyst to the punk rock movement. The Clash and The Damned made their live debuts opening for the band on their shows today and on June 6th.
"London's Burning" (named after the popular nursery rhyme about the Great Fire of London in 1666) is mainly about the punk scene's main choice of drug at the time: amphetamine sulphate, AKA speed ("I can't think of a better way to spend the night, than speeding around underneath the yellow lights"). Peter Hook, English bassist for Joy Divison and New Order alongside his childhood friend Bernard Sumner, he attended a Sex Pistols show in 1976, which ignited their passion for music. Inspired by the performance, Sumner and Hook formed a band called Warsaw, which later evolved into the iconic Joy Division.

On this day 45 years ago in 1979 Fleetwood Mac recorded the USC Trojan Marching Band at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles for use on "Tusk," the title track to the follow up to Rumours. A film crew captured the action (including Stevie Nicks deftly twirling a baton) which is made into the video for the song.
